Why is it that you need a lawyer so badly?

Tell us why you need a Lawyer and I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Different Lawyers specialise in different fields.. Divorce, wills, claims etc...

I'm going into law in two years sorry. But I probaly would'nt be able to help you, I am planning to be an executive lawyer and defend businesses. Why kind of layer do you need?

i dont want to hire one, I just want to talk to one. I dont really have any money, and was just hit with an illegal possession charge last night. I just wanted a professional opinion on this matter.

Illiegal possession? Of what?

Say that whatever you were illegally possessing was in a piece of furniture that you bought at a police auction, hey it worked for some guy who was stashing weed in his car.

And it really depends on what it was, what were you keeping?

I just had weed on me. I wasnt driving or doing anything stupid, it was just late out and the cop freaked out and searched us.

You don't need a lawyer.

You need to live in a place where the police will not hassle you for possessing a modicum of ganja.

What state, and how much (wt.) were you carrying? Also, did you have any pipes, papers, or water pipes on you?

I'm in Virginia, had less then an eighth on me and they didnt find our pipe.

I dont know about VA, but in some states at least, that small amount is not considered a saleable amount, and would be a ticketable offense.

I know some cops who will let the offender off, and just hang onto it for thier personal stash.

This will most likely be a slap on the wrists for you:

"Virginia"
"Possession"
"Any amount (first offense) misdemeanor 30 days $500 "

Just hope they don't try to charge you for sale:

"1/2 oz or less misdemeanor 1 year $2,500"

I'm a lawyer. Uh, I would never give someone legal advice over the internet, though. Something about getting sued by you for malpractice if you do not like my advice. I do not know VA law, but it should be a simple misdemeanor. I am sure there are many cheap criminal defense lawyers in your city. Call one up.

at least with representation, you'll likely get the least penalty. If they found it on you, no sense fighting it...you'll probably get less just admitting it.

Never keep it on your person! Stash it in the car! If just walking around, stash it in your sock (top of the foot, inside your shoes), and it would get missed by almost every routine search. Not that I'd know about such things of course...but a thought...

Thanks a lot guys. This is my first offense, and the officers said I will most likely just have to take some classes and then it will be struck off my record. It's always nice to get a second opinion on things though.

Have you heard anything about it since?

Chill yer boots until you hear something more.

If you do you may get a fine or community service.
Worrying won't change anything.

Inthe UK you would just get a slap on thev wrist for pocessing a 8th.
