Trump can say what he likes, but if he were ever to become POTUS and that's a big 'IF', nothing will change. They are just the public face after all, the real power was taken a long time ago.

He can't be any worse than what we have now

Well, he could be. The problem with Trump is that he is large on rhetoric and short on substance. He does not appear to show any kind of restraint, and to frustrated voters, that is a "calling" of sorts. He kind of shoots off his mouth and is as surprised as anyone about what comes out. In terms of foreign policy, countries generally show more restraint, but Trump is talking more like North Korea. That just shows his lack of diplomacy experience.

So the candidates are engaged in a popularity contest right now, at which Trump excels because at least he is not BORING compared to the low key styles of the other candidates. He takes their frustrations and throws them back at them and they say, "Hell, yeah! Go Trump!"

However, this is not going to last. It has been a figment of American elections for decades now. Some firebrand gets up there and excites the electorate like a warm-up band "opening" for the main attraction. Trump's job is the same as the opening band, but the real contest hasn't started yet, because the real contest is about delegates. Jesse Jackson did the same thing on the Democrat side and actually got a few delegates, but when push came to shove, the Democrats nominated the extremely boring and bland Michael Dukakis who lost to George H.W. Bush.

The real contest will probably be pretty obvious by Super Tuesday, and if Trump takes those states by a commanding lead, we can start talking about Trump as a real candidate. But until then this is just a circus. Enjoy it while it lasts.

We will continue to see what we have been seeing as long as Congress stays the same. I think our main priority should be to address the political corruption that has ran rampant for decades. Until that problem is resolved, be ready for the same old crap. It won't matter who is in the WH.

Yes, but I think Trump will expose the congressional leaders for the hypocritical puppets that they are. This is why the GOP leadership does not want Trump. Trump isn't afraid to tell them to go screw themselves, nor will he be afraid to call them to the carpet on both sides of the aisle.

Trump doesn't speak their language. He just says what he is thinking and calls things as he see it. Simple folk like this approach. He also isn't afraid to take his lumps for saying it. This is why everytime the media tries to make something he said controversial, it doesn't work. He double downs and moves on. The media isn't used to politicians who aren't afraid to say what they mean and own their position.

The GOP RINOs know they are better off under Hillary than they are an independent like Trump or even Cruz. See with Hillary, they still can maintain their power even if they don't have the Presidency.

I agree, Bernie and Trump are not liked by their affiliated parties for a reason. They both say what's on their mind and aren't afraid to call out the others. I just can't get behind Trump because of some of the stuff he spouts off.

I agree. I don't care for Sanders positions, but I respect him for owning them. We can agree to disagree. What I don't like is these snake in the grass politicians on both sides of the aisle talking with forked tongues.

Both Trump and Sanders have exposed the "uniparty" for what it is...

Is that what he's going to use as a campaign slogan? it's catchy. I like it.

I agree and think that sums it up. Short and sweet.

I'm not trying to have the thread taken down, but the T&C's say the OP needs to flesh out his opinion on the articles they present as threads. Hence why I asked.

Then you need to reread the OP.

I was very clear about my opinion.

Do you need to read it again? OK

GO TRUMP!!!!

There is no way in hell youre going to get his followers to believe that....

I was the first one on ATS to post about Trump when I saw he was thinking abuot running Republican...

BEFORE all his gaffs, before all his rhetoric, I outlined EXACTLY who this guy was, how he waffles, says one thing and does another , and then TOLD EVERYONE exactly what he was going to do, and how he was going to do during the debates....

Before any of it happened, thats how transparent this guy was....

So far I have been right on about everything, and yet NO ONE stops to think for a second that perhaps the information on Trump was true....

Im not patting myself on the back here, im merely illustrating that even with having the facts beforehand, before this guy had this huge following, people STILL didnt stop to look at them...

The ignorance and idiocy concerning this man is EPIC....

Hell hes touting himself as "The Bane of ISIS" basically , yet only 2 months ago he was advocating leaving them alone because they were helping get rid of Assad

I often wonder if its actually physically painful to be this deaf, dumb and blind concerning Trump....

How far do you have to shove the fingers in the ears not to hear the obvious?

ugh, I digress

/rant over

Sure you are. That's exactly what you're doing. You're painting yourself as the smartest most perceptive guy here. But the fact is you're answering a question I didn't ask. My thesis here is that Trump is all rhetoric we want to hear, and the fact that he has adherents that won't listen to YOU just reminds me of the Ron Paul followers who got so excited about him, and how many delegates did he get? Zero.

And that's what is going to happen here. Unless TPTB WANT him in (a point that just showed up a few minutes ago on another thread) Trump will fade as the election gets more serious, just like Jesse Jackson went down in flames and the Dems chose Dukakis.

No, He has followers that wont listen to FACTS, its not about MY perception, its about the fact that they were readily available on the internet, and were clearly outlined here on ATS for the members who support him here, and people still didnt want to take notice

You can take this opportunity to snipe at someone who was agreeing with you if you wish but it seems you missed the whole point of the post

Maybe dial back your animosity a notch

I haven't, he seems to be the one to want to fight corruption. That is the primary reason I support Bernie.

Where is all the youthful enthusiasm Obama had, in 2008? I always knew that his *cough* 'grassroots' campaign was nothing but complicit media fawning and paid-for hype.

If that enthusiasm were real, Bernie would be enjoying the same rock-star status. He's far more deserving, too.

Nothing has changed, since 2008...except now Hillary has even more baggage. What is happening with the lack of enthusiasm for Bernie should piss his supporters off -- and they should be holding the DNC's feet to the flames. In 2008, the DNC shoved Obama down our throats and called for Hillary to hang it up even though she won the popular vote. They stuck their necks far, far out to fix that primary for Obama.

It sure looks like the DNC Establishment choose their last candidate -- and this one -- and they fooled party members into believe they were actually making a choice for hope & change.

And democrats think the GOP is a joke...

...well, they are, too, but at least they aren't the last ones in on it.

Wont matter

1. Hell never make the nomination

2. Even if he goes 3rd Party, he wont curry enough to get there

3. Even if he did either one of those, Hillary or Bernie would absolutely slaughter him in the debates

The guy cant form a coherent sentence in response without resulting to some sort of superficial personal attacks.

Beyond that he has no policy, he has things he says hes FOR, but he has no plan, i mean beyond the ideas hes borrowed from other people , and hasnt bothered to educate himself enough to go into any depth on lol.

Anyway, were in agreement on this issue as you know.......

And to the OP, again people arent scared, they are dumbfounded by the utter ignorance thats so prevalent with his supporters.

I respect the opinions of the Trump supporters and believe it is important to stand by your guy, but you have a rude awakening coming your way.

If Trump gets the nomination, he will almost certainly get his ass handed to him by Hillary. She has a decent lead in most of the polls against him. Even against Sanders it's a toss-up.

Also, the GOP is possibly preparing to throw Trump under the bus by playing with the delegates to push Bush forward. He is doing much better in the polls against Hillary.

So you can cheer-lead for Trump all you like, but don't be surprised if you come up empty handed.

You never never say that unless you want to be proven wrong.

Also many dictatorships have started under those circumstance when a caring representative of the People comes along to help save the day.

Your enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.

Im of the opinion they wont be able to do that with Bush, however they might rally behind Ted since he has stepped his ground game up so much and has been gaining pretty steady.

All that aside?

The Democrats are foaming at the mouth for Trump to get the nomination, they have so much stored up ammunition on him that they havent dropped yet, it will be a slaughter.

Thats my opinion why they havent hit him as hard as they could be, they are waiting, and IF he some how pulls it off, they will drop it all on him like an H-Bomb and utterly decimate him.

Just my 2 cents
