What's up ATS? Pop up Autoplay Videos & More

What's going on with ATS lately?

I've been getting this ad just about every time I try and come here. It's a huge pop up video that autoplays really loud. This time I got a screen cap:


Also this week, I've reported two posts. So far as my understanding goes, both are against the rules. One where a poster called another poster an ass, another where a poster called someone an idiot. Neither of the original posters were did anything untoward. Neither the ass post nor the idiot post were removed or edited, and yes I have read the thread about how to properly report a post or thread.

Horrible pop up screaming ads and extreme rudeness with lack of moderation is not good for the site. Where's the good old ATS, everyone on a vacay this week?

The last complaint you initiated was five days ago, and our staff did indeed take the appropriate action by removing the post.

As for the video ad, it only runs on the home page, and should not play sound until you roll your cursor over it.

I'm still looking at one of the complaint posts.

The ad for me appears on the page index.php, which apparently is Home. Thank you for the tip about the cursor, I didn't know why it sometimes had audio and sometimes appeared black and assumed it had something to do with my PC.

It is slightly better to know it has a trigger and posters can avoid the trigger (assuming they know about it, which I did not) but I do believe pop up ads with audio are universally hated.

If it's not obvious, I REALLY LIKE this website and want it to survive. The kind of stuff I am complaining about drives people away. The reason I stayed the first time I came here was due to the fact it was moderated, did not have annoying crap off going off everywhere, and spam junk got swiftly deleted.

I call myself an ass on here sometimes.

Have you considered that you might be wanting to go somewhere else where they only do baby talk and dumb everything down to the level of a five year old? The BBC are very good at it. If ATS offends you Lord knows how the Guardian and the Daily Mail must make you feel. They talk openly about things like pornography, drugs, graphically describe gay sex, allow swearing in their comments (Guardian does)etc. They are MSM.

Grow a pair, darlin'.

I am having fun. It is light hearted humour to make a point. I use humour all the time as you should know by now. ATS will die if people carry on biting into it like Adam's apple (allusion to OP totally meant).

The Guardian is now a more free place to write than ATS. This concerns me.

I know many people do not like animated characters like me because it makes them look all the more stiff and dull. I am here to express myself just like you Mister. I know you probably find me very difficult. A lot of people do believe it. I am very challenging. When we are challenged we learn most. This is the spirit of debate, mate!

Don't let ATS turn into nursery school like other media.

People will leave in droves if ya do. May be that is happening already? Not very popular this morning, UK time? Never used to be like that did it ATS?

Friend? It really is you, your devices, settings etc. I have no such issues.. Ever-never.... and nothing's wrong with your equipment or devices!
