Sabra Kesinovic, 17, was reportedly murdered after she was caught attempting to escape from Raqqa, Syria. Check the link for the full story and a picture of her. Nice looking young girl who sacrificed her life for, WHAT?

I realize young people make mistakes (I darn sure did growing up) but some mistakes do not allow a "do over" ! Unfortunately Sabra found out the hard way that those who claim a bond of friendship are not necessary your friends when the chips are down...

Religion can turn people into many things good, and certainly many things most would consider bad. I have met those who I doubt could live without their belief system because it is all consuming and effects every thought and deed during their daily lives.

It would be nice if the one true sky fairy would return and set people on a peaceful path.. Unfortunately whomever the great sky fairy is seems to be otherwise occupied. Or he/she/it could care even less about people than a tree who sheds it's leaves (if they exist at all ?).

Maybe it is survival of the fittest, with side bets and everything ... Kinda like the gods of old and Mount Olympus... petty little buggers (Zeus included) they were; good riddance IMO

Be careful what you wish for ... In almost every story where that happens, things must get much worse before they ever get better. If God is returning (or whatever deity you choose that has a similar story), then this mess is simply the opening salvo and things are only going to get worse, much worse.

All through i have a modicum of sympathy for the lass for finally coming to her senses and attempting to escape from such an oppressive backward thinking racist xenophobic regime, especially so regarding Woman, then being murdered in the process. I have to ask what did she think was going to happen? Considering the way Sharia law following nations treat there Woman which is essentially like chattel.

There is a lesson to be had here for all young Woman(And Men for that matter) who consider upping root from there own nations and deciding to follow the nefarious call of ISIS Caliphate states. That being dont do it because you will most lightly regret it.

I wouldn't go so far as to call her evil. I would say she is a product of what her current culture made her - spiritually empty. She was seeking and thought ISIS would fulfill that need. She found out the hard way how wrong she was.

If she was a HE I doubt there would be much sympathy.

She knew ISIS was evil. She knew what she was joining. One has to be a certain kind of messed up to join such a group.

No sympathy from, she is a terrorist and a traitor and no different to the many ISIS males who joined and then deserted and died.

Yes. The apple falls not from the tree from whence it came; in her case and my others from this back@ss regime, the apple does not always fall

A sad story indeed . I was thinking about some of the war stories told by some of the ones fortunate enough to have survived to do so . Many a young person went off to war for different reasons and told their stories in different ways .Some were hard bad ass stories but the ones that touched me the most were the silent ones . I imaging finding yourself dug in with bullets wizzing by and bombs exploding that all you can do is hope . You know it will end but the hope that you hold inside you will be the voice you speak when it does end .

I never had a idea that God was a sky fairy kind of creature but figured He must be a righteous kind of sorts .My hope therefore was that I wouldn't piss Him off . Along the journey I realized that He must be a forgiving kind of sorts as well . Being young and having misplaced hopes usually resulted in doing the wrong things . Even knowing or learning to do better did little to undo my mistakes .... It could be that Sabra discovered that what she had hoped for was not real or even a good choice and looked for the way out .....I hope that she found it ..Living in that sort of ISIS hell must really be hellish . What kind of hope could that ever offer ........peace

I didn't say I had a whole lot of sympathy for her only that I doubt she was evil to begin with.

i don't buy the age thing.
She was an idiot or some entitled brat.
I know we all make mistakes, and like many i have a long list of those myself.
But i was intelligent enough to never make a connection with people who have murder as their prime goal expecting it would turn out like an episode of Three's Company

I am reminded of the kids and teenagers who worked for Pol Pot killing or turning in anyone with an education or even people who wore glasses and could read as enemies of the state.

Being young is not easy in itself but throw in some religion and brain washing and no telling where it will lead.. At least in this case ... religion is certainly not the only directional control used on the masses as most of us are well aware of...

It will be interesting with Russia's stepped up bombings and others who have had enough of ISIS.... what will happen when many of these little darlings return to their birth country. I personally would not let them back in or off to jail/rendition straight away for a little re-education might be the only answer. All this stuff is like closing the barn door once the horses are already out and ran away.

She had Austrian nationality but she was a Bosnian refugee, she was a muslim already. She was not spiritually empty, she had a religion but she wanted to serve her God in a 'better way', as she told her parents in a short note.

Silly girl. I feel sorry for her and her family and, as a mum, I can only imagine how much she must be hurting right now.

RIP young Sabra ♥

It sure seems like a foolish decision, but pal, we all make mistakes, and a 17 yo girl knows little of what she does. I know, I have two girls myself. Imagine her parent's anguish........

And if it was a 17 year old boy I will bet there would be less sympathy.

There are mistakes and then there are crimes against humanity.

Yeah, because killing people really fills that big ole' empty hole in our spiritual feels, right?
That's why she went over there. To join a war and kill people.

Instead she was probably passed around different groups of smelly bearded men every night.
I'd say she got her cake, and it was force fed to her, too.
