Once again Turkey is NATO. And the Russians (then the Soviets) and US have been down this road before in Vietnam. Proxy war.

Turkey is not NATO, it is a member of NATO. Russia and NATO are not at war. Trust me, you will know when Russia actually starts a war with NATO.

Russian jet crashed inside Syria. The pilots came down inside Syria. NATO downed the jet, the "terrs" downed the rescue helo inside Syria.

I saw the video of the plane coming down. That aircraft could have easily been inside Turkish airspace when the missiles were fired at it. If it was heading back towards Syria it could have covered miles before it hit the ground.

Never heard of the "Cold" war? War is war.

ICBMs, subs, bombers, cruise missiles, ships, the Space 'race', a hundred proxy battles fighting the reds, commies, Russkies all over the word, for decades, longer even. Where were you?

No different today. Even the fear factor pumped by people on websites to view the Russians (again?) as the enemy…lol.

I saw the same footage. It could have just easily been in Syrian airspace the whole time, too. Ignored all '10 warnings' because of it. What pilot hangs around to get shot at? He had no reason to flee because he wasn't in violation.

On the other hand, NATO planes cross the Syrian border with abandon. I believe an illegal shoot down from that more than I believe a plane 'strayed'. Not much complaining up in the house about that, is there…

In fact I'd believe the excuse to shoot was fabricated because the Russian jet was bombing terrs on the Syrian side, of course.

Unless you got proof the SU 24 was running ops in Turkey. And if that were true, we'd have heard NATO screaming it from all the warmongers keyboards on the web.

But this is not a cold war'

yes it is. Like this…

Russians (allied with Syria) bombing US backed insurgents operating in Syria.

US bombing in support of "opposition", Russia bombing insurgents in support of Syrian military.

This is a proxy war, there is no shooting between US and Russian forces, just like Vietnam. Just weapons, training, advisors, special forces.

Now behind the veil a certain amount of that is going to happen randomly. Like this shoot down. It wasn't supposed to happen, but things are hard for the insurgents, they are being wiped out faster than NATO can replace them. The out of bounds act of shooting down a Russian ground attack aircraft shows how desperate the Insurgents situation is becoming.

The Russians are kicking NATO asswipes out of Syria.

This is why there is a refugee crisis, because Assad is a dictator at war with his own peoples.

No, because NATO started the war by proxy in Syria, lying about it being a revolution.

So Hilary and Obama, both of whom supported Assad as a reformer/moderate, wanted to set him up and go through a complex convoluted process to end up here?

Are you sure it wasn't just Assad wanting to protect Syria and his power base from rebels, sparking this civil war?

I was here in the early days, part of the Arab Spring concurrent in the news with Tunisia, Egypt and elsewheres like Bahrain, Qatar, and even Kingdom of Saud…

Syria's initial valid protest movement was hijacked and turned into a clandestine, covert operation, to lead us all the way to here.

Besides, Hillary is an errand girl and Obama a game show host.

Aren't the FSA's affiliated with Al Qaeda? Or at least a few members in the FSA?

They were fighting Al Nusra for territory. Unfortunately its more complicated than that.

Here are Assads Thugs killing a captured enemy. Warning:Graphic

Here is a bunch of normal FSA 'terrorists', erm, wait a Plumber? Leading a battalion... And the local civilians running rescue operations while other civilians are getting bombed.

But tell us again how its all Al Queada and ISIS opposing Assad, and no one else. Because the Russians should be trusted.

Edit: Just to be clear, Im sure you can find mirror images of the above on both sides. Its a very complicated war in Syria. But don't delude yourself for a second and think one side is better than the other. Extremist factions have been fighting with FSA before ISIS existed, and yes, some of those groups intermixed, but Assad was below all of them [on the humanitarian scale] before they even existed.

Shooting down the Russian plane bears that out. The Russians are actually bombing the terrorists coming in from Turkey, thats why they got shot down.

Ah right, please link the Russian propaganda, news for us...

Russian fanboys are out in force!

Precisely how is Russia going to turn on Germany first? And exactly how is Russia, without going nuclear, going to defeat NATO? The USSR didn't think it could defeat NATO back in it's heyday, how the hell is a dilapidated Russia going to do so?

Fanboy wetdreams, is all this is.

Indeed it is, yet quite a few around here will try to simplify it to fit their narrative (such as US supports IS, for example)

It's getting as bit tiresome to be honest.

Lol, don't need their propaganda. The Russians aren't bombing the Syrian military or Turkey.

Edit: Quite easy to see which side the "Turkmen" are on, though.

Do you even watch and read your own sources?

A spokesman for the rebel group said the pilot, who can be seen covered in bruises and burns in the video, was already deceased when he landed, and that they are conducting search operations in the area to find the second crew membe

Jahed Ahmad of the 10th Brigade in the Coast, a group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army, said his group would consider exchanging the body of the Russian pilot for prisoners held by the Syrian government.

Is it because they are saying Allahu Ackbar? You realize this doesnt make them terrorists right? Plenty of fighters are religious, it doesnt automatically make them extremists if they shout god is great. The US and other Nations fight along side people like this all the time.

It says in the video the gunfire is 'crossfire' which means they could have been shooting against other groups on the ground, Al Nusra, Syrian Government troops, or whoever. It doesnt make it any clearer.

The Russians aren't bombing the Syrian military or Turkey.

They levelled that entire area actually. Even admitting it wasn't just the 'terrorists' that were hit:

"As soon as our pilot was safe, Russian bombers and artillery of the Syrian government forces carried out massive strikes in the indicated area for an extended period," military official Igor Konashenkov told Russian news agencies.

"The terrorists operating in that area and other mysterious groups were destroyed," he said.

Yes. But i get you have to twist it all around with a lengthy post to make it look like NATO and terrorists they support are the good guys.
