Something going on in Brussels, Belgium right now!

About two hours ago, the center of Brussels was put on total lockdown.
People where evacuated from the streets by police and military, others are locked inside bars, restaurants and hotels. Hotel guests are not allowed to leave their room. (according to some reports there are bbc news journalists locked in their hotelroom)
Everyone is told to stay inside and stay away from the windows.
They used public transportation buses to block the streets and lots of police helicopters circling above the city.

The police has called for total media silence and is constantly asking the people to stop giving information about their movement on social media and twitter.
(as a response to this the twitter-people started to fill the feeds with funny cat pictures) #BrusselsLockdown

No news is coming through on news mediums... nor social media reports from people in the area (not sure if this is because they are respecting the media silence or because they have blocked the isp's in that area?)

Hard to tell but I'm sure they're just trying to avoid a panic type of situation. If they released info that would put people in a panic the situation would be far worse so they just tell everyone to stay indoors. Hope its nothing

Another possibility is that the police are closing in on someone, and don't want their target(s) to realise just how close and take evasive action.

Agreed. They are closing in and probably big! Better to keep the civilians out of the way.
