So do you believe that there is no threat to ATS or any other conspiracy site as a result of the current situation?

Or to put it another way, would it surprise you if the site was ever censored as events progressed?

All this kind of talk sounds like outright doom porn but i fundamentally agree with the essence of your post.
From Theresa May and Cameron bringing out new laws on what they term extremists(911 conspiracy theorists) can talk about or put on the internet to the Chinese internet credit rating people based on brown tonguing the Government.
Also Matt Drudge being told by a supreme court judge that under new rules of the TPP they will be coming after him next year and he will be shut down and all he basically does is link websites to bring news we might never hear much like this one.
Many other clues such as banning cash being openly discussed and a world biometric program by 2030.

A Globalist totalitarian Government is slowly wrapping itself around the World like a giant Boa Constrictor using the UN,the war on terror, global carbon tax,the TPP and many other deviant ways.

Oh really?

Mr. attention seeking, Gearoid O Colmain, show us some real proof that Conspiracy theorists are plotting mass killings. This is another looser, who is just spinning the recent Paris attacks to push his agenda.

I must have missed the part where he stated Conspiracy Theorists are plotting mass killings, can you provide a video time for that statement or insinuation please to save me listening to the whole video again?

Insofar as "they" shutting down ATS, no, I don't believe there is a threat.

But that's not to say other smaller or poorly run sites or digital presences won't get shut down for doing something stupid.

I don't know about shutting down conspiracy sites. How else will they put out ridiculous theories to make the legit ones seem insane?

His hyperbole is very high, and his basis in truth is quite low. There is no credible information or speculation that would cause one to presume that sites like ATS would be in the crosshairs of "them" or "they" or "TPTB" because of Paris.

The source of that video, Russia Today, stands a much better chance of being banned from the US than ATS stands a chance of getting a mean letter from "them."

So conspiracy theories are

a) not stupid?

B) stupid depending on what site you're on?

C) only as stupid as the people who make them up?

D) always stupid if they involve our cute and cuddly government?

So conspiracy theories are

A, B, C.

There are an increasing number of stupid conspiracy theories online. Some may be injected by bad actors, but most are just hyper-speculation by people with no knowledge of that which they speculate.

The good ones are getting harder and harder to find. Why would "they" want to reduce that signal to noise ratio by shutting down any of it?

Any stats on this claims, this is very interesting to know.

The ratio of stupid theories is to good theories, and what classifications are there to consider a theory being stupid?

Thanks

Stats are unknown. He's just parroting popularized doom porn surrounded by occasional reasonably correct historical context.

He's not correct about the origins of the "real problem" being the French government. It's the US government and Operation Cyclone.

The ratio of stupid theories is to good theories, and what classifications are there to consider a theory being stupid?

It's not hard for well-studied people to spot "stupid" theories. For example, "we didn't go to the moon" is a stupid theory. While, "the US government created modern radicalized Islam," is a smart theory.

I have believed for a while now that ATS and similar user-generated forums are a perfect resource for "them."

Sites like this are basically a free, voluntary centralized think-tank. Every controversial story that comes across media outlets worldwide is dissected, analyzed and opinionated by a milieu of different people here. "They" can easily watch the general response to any event and gauge the level of effect and the "sway" of the information. "They" can also just as easily drop-in and steer the conversation from the ground up, completely undetected.

No, I don't think "they" want to crack down on these sites at all, rather they would want to bolster and quietly encourage them. We're telling them exactly what we "know" and what we think about "what we know."

I'd imagine the real crackdown is on independent media: Your DAHB007s and SuspiciousObservers for instance. We hear of Youtube channels getting shut down all the time...

The next step could be to pair the "growing need for preventative policing" with exceedingly sensitive data collection/dissemination technology. One might liken a future "crack-down" to a vast digital "Schindler's list" of conspiracy/revolutionary minded people being compiled. If you post something "they" don't want, you go up on the list... the more effective you are the higher up you'd go.

Interested in your thoughts on this if possible.

Well handled.

As I see it a site like this would get completely out of hand
with out an SO anyway. I'm not saying that to be a kiss ass,
I'm saying it because as one of the less educated
on this site. I absolutely appreciate the skeptics here.
I've been talked down before here ( Phage and Chadwickas )
on chemtrails for instance and appreciate that in a big way.
I'd rather lose a debate any day, get creamed even, then to go around
spouting stupid sh!t. And that doesn't mean I'm not spouting ignorance
sometimes now either. It just means I haven't been convinced of it.
