Here is an interesting article looking at racism from both sides.

Apparently , a Black professor (UNT) that was stopped and asked for ID from a couple of what appear to be very polite white officers goes later and publishes an article about how she was racially profiled.

The Police answered that accusation by releasing the video below and what followed was 3,500 people that signed a petition urging UNT to fire her.

Racism? By whom? This video of Texas cops stopping a black professor is a racial ‘Rorschach test’:

So who is right

Isn't making false racial accusations a form of stereotyping and racism?

I see this reversal of discrimination and stereotyping as a politically correct way to keep racism alive and the people fighting among themselves. Sadly , we won't be able to overcome racism until ALL forms of racism is frowned upon.

classic, so ignorant so ignorant... I don't always support the police but she's wrong the only racism is coming from her in the actions she took afterwards.

Yeah I'm with you on this. I see a lot of problems with how our police departments are being run and typically when the race card is thrown the real issues get overlooked and nothing really gets fixed.

I'm white and I've been stopped many times by police while walking. It's what cops do. They always ask for ID as well. She's just looking to be a victim.

As a conservative racism is a big issue for me not that I care about it or anything. It's just those damn liberals perpetuating the problems of the United States of America.

so do you troll to get a rise, or just for fun?

You are not a conservative and making snide quips has zero validity.

Her article was wrong, though if their issue was just about safety couldn't they just tell her to walk on the other side of the road? But ya she could have just gave her name and been done.

Now should people be calling for her job?
I do agree that the university has the right to fire her if they feel she represented them in a bad way but that is their decision.
She never called for the cops jobs.

I grew up in a small town primarily made up of white people and me and my family were some of the first prominent Hispanics in the area.

Years later as the Spanish community grew some of the local Hispanics wanted my father to join and support a demonstration to show how Hispanics where being discriminated against by the police.

The Hispanic community felt they were being pulled over to often for speeding over whites. My Father declined and told them that the important part is that they were speeding.

Don't get me wrong we dealt with alot of racism as well in the town, but my parents always instilled on us that only you can make your own speed bumps and barriers not those @ssh0les. He was 100% correct. Life isn't fair for any one including whitey, its up to you when you decide to quit and settle as being the victim.

to me at first i thought the person was on drugs walking down the road like that,if she was in england she would have been stopped by police as well,if only to check she was not on drugs.

I will bet you are hundred bucks that all the same people show up in this thread to talk about race even though they claim to not care a bit about it. Technoman up there is just the first. What is the point anymore? Do any of you even read your posts? Have you all gone stark raving mad??

The line blurs after awhile, ya know? All this rush to be as offensive as possible and offended as possible- crazy stuff.

I have no idea what this means, is this a confession of some kind?

Anyway back to the point the police were not wrong for pulling her over and she infact was wrong for acting one biligerent in taking photos and trying to make it something it wasn't then further writing and article about "discrimination" do you agree or disagree?

And more who are you even appealing to, whilst slaughtering my screen-name?

I'm not surprised you don't understand.

I cannot guess at people's internal motivations for their actions. We may never know why the police pulled her over.

The Police Chief Debra Walthall stated it was standard procedure.

Asking for ID “is part of the standard procedure,” Walthall told

There’s a legitimate purpose for doing so. She did commit a misdemeanor. I want our officers checking IDs on every person they encounter in situations such as this.

Now should people be calling for her job?

On the fence on that as she didn't report the incident. However she did falsely smeared the officers and posted their face on social media and her column. That could have gotten them fired or even murdered in this day of age with all the racial tension.

Well I think they make that abundantly clear when they tell her a truck had to come to abrupt halt as to not hit her, seems like a reasonable stop to me, how about you? And nice not answering my questions..

Here's a shocker. I don't really care , that's the thing. Every time something like this happens there is a rush on ATS to "discuss it".

Though for many obvious lines are drawn before the thread is even read.

Actually it is a shocker as you have taken time to post several times in this thread?

can you not see that from behind she looked to be on something flapping her arms like a bird, and if she was on drugs walking on the wrong side of the road which could of endangered her life
now i dont know what your problems are with other posters in this thread, but she clearly needed to be checked for her safety.
so why are you going off on one exactly??????????????????

No, I just see you derailing a thread and making biased presumptions on ATS members.

Have anything to share that is on the topic of the thread? Would you not agree that she jumped the gun in assuming the officers were stereotyping or profiling.

To be honest as she was covered from head to toe from the back I don't even see how officers would have known she was black until they talked to her.
