Supersonic 'Skreemr' Jet Could Fly Faster than Mach 10

Any plane that goes that fast has to be designed from the ground up to go that fast.

Especially with regards to sonic booms.

Let us assume a launch velocity of Mach 4. That is about 1320 meters per second. v = at. With acceleration of 3g that gives us a launch time of 44 seconds. Not bad; modern airliners typically take 30 to 40 seconds for take-off.

How long is that rail-gun they use for launch? s = (1/2) at^2. Oops. That gives me 29 kilometers, almost 20 miles. That is a massive railgun. A wonderful target for acts of terrorism. Add a few more supercapacitors and perhaps it could be used for intercontinental ballistic launches as well.

Having said that, I don't think the majority of people would particularly enjoy 3g for 44 seconds.
