I know better than to pick on you...

No, you're right, semper. Totally.

Hallowe'en is what you make of it. A chance to party? Fine. Or, as in your case, do nothing to celebrate it. That's totally fine, too.

But there is so much more to it then that which Robertson opines. ...and if he looked at closely enough, he'd see some parellels between the old beliefs and Christian belief. Rather surprising ones.

Well...

I think that anyone can read the history of Halloween. The fact Halloween is a celebration based on ancients dressing up to ward off evil demons is pretty well accepted historically.

As far as my beliefs go, they are very personal and not really something I share easily..

Halloween is when I get 3 Musketeers candy bars and put them in the freezer. I also watch scary movies. Pat Robertson is entitled to his opinions, but if he touches my candy, he's pulling back a stump.

Pick away brother.. It's all good..

As for Robertson, yes, he is a french fry or two short of a happy meal...

Yet, he is still entitled to his beliefs in my humble opinion

How misogynistic of you to decide for a woman what degrades her and what doesn't.

It would be more misogynistic of me to believe treating women like sex objects is ok.

But dressing like a slut isn't about that, right?

Since the entire idea behind the costume element of Halloween is to dress up as something you are most certainly not for an evening, I propose Pat figure out how to make a Decent Human Being costume, and don it for a few hours. Who knows, he might even have a smidge of fun playing pretend for a while.

I love me some holidays and celebrate with whomever cares to join in. Everyone else can occupy themselves however they choose.

I really wish some of these guys would learn how to prioritize. We should focus more on not killing each other, then when we have that down concentrate on things like who to marry and grooming choices and whether or not to drink caffeinated beverages.

Coffee, thou art Satan's communion wine!

As is usual, we agree far more than disagree.

Should I worry??? Or you???

How does how a woman dresses make you treat her any particular way? It's clothing. That she picked out. For her. Not for you. Her clothing doesn't force you to do anything.

Other than judge her, apparently.

I thought All Hollows Eve was the day you dressed up to scare away the evil spirits in preparation for the next day, All Saints Day. Nothing wrong with scaring away evil spirits, is there?

Meh, some people just want to get upset about something. These are the same folks that won't let their kids read Harry Potter.

I have always wrestled with the ops questions.

I find your answer the one that actually makes the most sense to me.

I guess it boils down to the question.

Are we exorcising demons on Halloween or our we exercising them.

You really think most women dress for themselves?

You have a point but take it too far in pretending that certain clothing can be a big turn or turn off.

In no way is it just a benign covering.

Eh, I've done the slutty French Maid. Turned it in to a bedroom sexy funtime outfit afterward, still gets considerable use all these years later. The point of it for Halloween? Be something I'm not. I'm generally somewhat conservative in my attire, normal tank tops & shorts are about as much skin as I'll ever show. Wee, show some extra boobie skin & leg for a few hours! It's not like I'd be doing it on a daily basis in public after all. THAT frequency of wear is when I start looking at feminists & gripers like thou complaining, saying "The hell? It's on display 24/7 but no one can look?"

Wow. Who said anything about treating people differently or taking a particular course of action toward them?

Way to completely misrepresent everything I said.

Dressing like, and being, are two totally different things.

I'm a guy, and I have a full beard... I'm dressing as a fairy god mother tonight. Does't make me a fairy god mother. ...or a cross dresser either. Weird? Yeah, a little. But that's the fun of the evening...pretending to be something you aren't.

...and if a six foot four guy with a beard, who weighs in the neighborhood of two seventy-five, in a fairly god mother kit scares away a few evil spirits in the process? Cool.
