Not sure if she's listed in this thread yet, but how about Meytal Cohen?

meytalcohen.com...

Speaking of Meytal. Here are a couple of really good vids of her banging her kit with her band, and for Tabitha Simmons.

I like it. Lol.

Nikke Blout.

She was on "hit like a girl". Not sure if she won, but I know she was in the top. Good stuff.

Lux? Or Autolux? If Autolux, I mentioned her in the OP. Carla Azar.

Apparently, she takes her outfits seriously

This one impresses me solely for the fact that she's rocking stilettos while playing. I'm no drummer but that seems like it might pose a bit of a challenge haha.

She's good, and she's lightning fast too. She's also played for Nekromantix, which says something for her skills.

Nice addition to the thread. Thanks for posting it.

Not necessarily what I would call the BEST, but relatively new drummer who I think has real talent. -- Akane Hirose from Band Maid.

That's a good little band! I'll have to listen to some more. They were all good, including the drummer.

Holy Crap! If they took the costumes off these girls, put them in some real clothes, and flew them to the U.S. they'd have some rock stars on their hands. Needless to say, I've been doing some research on these ladies. They're the real thing. I was about to accuse them of being fronts for the real band, but not so. Also, I've checked out a few vids of the drummer. She's really good. Smooth, accurate, and like lightning with a pair of sticks in her hands. Call me impressed.

Thanks for adding this group to the thread!

I think they're pretty awesome also. ;o) I thought the same thing the first time I saw the 'Thrill' video, but nope, they're the real deal.

Thanks for the 'Don't let me down' vid! Hadn't seen that one yet.

Prediction: They will slowly morph into less gimmicky clothing. I already see changes in hair color and I think I saw Kanami Touno without her mini-maid hat. That seems very carefully calculated -- the odd-and-out-there maid outfits. Got attention for the milisecond that it takes for [some] people to stop and listen. Worked with me.

I hope you're right about the clothing. I'd like to see these girls get taken seriously, and be allowed to develop a style and personality that fits them as a band. But they are in Japan. Hard to say if those financing them will loosen their grip enough for that to happen.

I hear you. I would enjoy the songs just as well if there weren't snippets of English.

I've seen one of those instruments she was playing before, but I can't recall the name of it. Good stuff, either way.

Could we be looking at a whole new generation of rockers from Japan and Korea? Check these ladies out...

This could get interesting. The Japanese, and likely Koreans as well, are not lackadaisical. They put themselves wholeheartedly into whatever they decide to learn. And it shows in these videos.

I could really give a flying f77k about the persons gender.

Be good at your craft. Good at your art. That's all I give a f77k about.

I am sick and tired of all of this divide and concur bs.

I wish everyone felt that way. Unfortunately they don't, and this isn't about "divide and conquer". It's about women in music who ARE good at their craft, but aren't always recognized for it. Lets not turn it into something that it isn't.

But...yes...that IS what it is about.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. I'm not turning this thread into a gender debate. It's about notable female drummers/musicians.
