Hi so i have been experiencing some problems with ATS, some times the site glitches and lags and my computers cpu usage jumps to 100% and activity monitor says safari web content is the culprit, and i have to quit safari to fix the problem. plus it only happens on ATS.
So whats up with this is it a computer problem or an ATS problem.

Im on a macbook pro with el captain software, computer is about 1.5 years old.
checked for malware and nothing.

Also im not a computer expert so not to much computer jargon or technical speech thanks in advance.

Could it be something to do with flash content in ad banners? I had a computer once where when I would go on a web page that contained Flash content like those blinking "YOU JUST WON $1,000,000 CLICK HERE TO CLAIM!!" ads or embedded videos, the browser would often spike to near 100% CPU usage and my computer would start to overheat. This would also tend to happen on any site that was heavy on images or graphics.

Unfortunately I never did find a fix for it. I searched and searched and found a million different "solutions", none of which worked. The general consensus seemed to be Adobe Flash sucks

I'm not an Apple user, so my advice is either limited or just plain inapplicable. Having said that, as the above poster has mentioned, Adobe Flash can be rather problematic. In fact until a couple of weeks ago it was highly advised for everyone to remove or disable it as there were tons and tons of exploitable weaknesses in it. A patch was put out recently that was supposed to have addressed the issues. I have not had occasion to catch up on tech news to see if the patch worked or not however.

If Safari uses Flash, it would not hurt to disable the plug-in and see if that helps.

SkepticOverlord may have some insight once he logs in and sees this.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you can get it fixed. If it is a computer problem and only 1.5 years old is it still under guarantee?

I hope you can get it sorted out. There is one suggestion: Sometimes I have noticed a CPU overload when I have many tabs open. I notice the problem goes away when I close the other browser tabs down and reload ATS after clearing browser cache. It seems to be tied up to flash and the graphics of that.

i don't think so because as i said it only happens on ATS. Plus activity monitor specifically lists flash player cpu usage and it wasn't out of the ordinary.

possibly but will have to check. anyway its not happening at the moment and i only have one browser open so its a possibility that its a numbers problem although i used to have multiple browsers and tabs open and no problems.its just recently started happen in the last 2 days.

so im stumped.

Just complaining about the El Capitan update.

What browser are you using? That might be part of it. Have you tried any other browsers?

Can't recall at the moment, but if the new safari has hardware acceleration, turn it off. That feature causes more problems across browsers than any other it seems. Resetting your browser, and turning off any "browser helpers" or plugins(add-ons) may help.
