Well, first off. I said those men who do. Not those who don't. Secondly, I think it is you who is out of touch with modern Christianity. Your brand of Christianity is not only NOT the majority. It is only one of thousands of sects. But the people I was talking about were those in leadership, of which there are many, who are closet misogynists. You rail against Islam, but you have forgotten to take the log out of your own eye ahead of time. When Christians start denouncing and defrocking those in their leadership who are bigots and misogynists, then they will have room to pronounce judgement on Islam and other religions.

You are so very wrong that "my brand" of Christianity is
not very very mainstream Christian thinking.

That is why a lot of people on ATS
(atheists, and particularly anti-theists)
really love to lash out at me,
because they think I am the worlds
worst Christian and an anomaly.
Because I don't fit the ugly bigoted prejudiced
and paranoid idea of what they think a
real Christian is or should be.

I am representative of the majority of
Christians. I live in the Christian community
and have all my life. I know the Christian
community far far better than someone,
who loathes Christianity and gets their
ugly stereotypes off reading about the
weirdo outliers of Christianity who make
the news.

So don't say I am not representative of
real Christians, you would not know because
you hate Christians with such a deep and
abiding passion which clouds your judgement
and creates a bigoted and prejudiced attitude
against Christians.

Therefore you are actually tacitly supporting the actions
(ie lashing gays etc.)
of Muslims by saying, well, Christians ....,

when the vast majority of Christians are
no where near like your paranoid ideas
about Christians.

I don't care what someone thinks a damm books says about homosexuality. Leave them alone. They are not hurting anyone.

God will be their judge, and God is sufficient to judge.

Christians, Jews, Muslims and every other ideology, enough already!!!

Why should anyone get worked up over this?

I have a gay sibling...forgive me if I take offense to a government criminalizing who my sibling chooses to love.

I agree. Sorry. I didn't place a sarcasm note to my post.

You do realize my whole family are Christians, and the area I live in is the Christian capitol of Illinois. Although I grew up in St. Louis, and spent my most of my time in churches there. I personally know of a church with a woman pastor, who has been turned down several times by guest speakers because a woman isn't supposed to pastor a church according to them. In fact, some of those have said she is disrespecting God, man, and even women because she is not in her rightful place as a Christian woman. Mind you, this is a more evangelical type church, but evangelicals still make-up between 40 and 60 percent of Christians in this country, depending on where you get your figures.

Adding to that, my own family and their friends don't believe a woman should be pastoring a church. Though a few say they would be ok with a woman co-pastor. However, they all agree that a woman is to be in submission to her husband.

Adding more to that. When was the last time you saw a woman Catholic priest? Or how about Baptist? Both mainstream Christian sects. None of the churches in my county, or the surrounding counties have a female pastor. Yes. I've checked. That includes more liberal churches like presbyterian, first christian, methodist, lutheran, assemblies of god, and other non-denominationals. St. Louis, where I grew up has at least a few in the more liberal sects. And a few in the more fundamentalist. I happen to know one of them, and she would vehemently disagree with you about sexism and misogyny in the mainstream, and not so mainstream sects.

Nevertheless, I will give that Western Christian nations are not stoning and caning women. Though I wonder if we left that up to some in the church leadership if that would change. Guys like John Hagee, Pat Robertson, and a handful of others.

This is the ENTIRE purpose of my op....
Islamo-fascist states are employing barbaric laws based upon 7th century sensibilities...

Again, this is the ONLY point of this op is to point out that Muslims are caning homosexuals and women who wear tight clothes....

Bravo! And that's the case with ALL Sharia law. It's always applied to Muslims only. And here in the states, it only applies to Muslims that WANT to live under it, and only then, if it doesn't break US law. Other Muslims are free to adhere only to US law.

This Sharia Law Fear is a big boogie man.

It takes a really blunted mind to believe in this kind of extreme relativism. Reading through your posts, I don't think you understand how deeply contradictory your beliefs actually are.

Ha-ha... I see what you did there...

So if you are in that Province, I recommend to all gay people and women who like to dress in a way they choose, to immediately sever ties with Islam and choose to live under the National Laws that are already in place. Right? I'm sure Muslim men of the area will leave you alone. They will say, "oh, wait... He isn't Muslim so he can be gay just leave him alone, and forget about it" So you might get questioned one time, but then all of the population will know your position so life will continue as normal... Surely.

No, what i was saying is don't act like it doesn't happen here, and that Islam is the only one that does that

Two brothers were severely beaten in their church, by their family and others, to the point that the older brother died. He died from blunt trauma, think about that. How hard that is to do, actually kick someone in the groin and entire body enough to kill them. If what I read was correct the brothers were beaten to gain a confession that they wanted to leave the fold.

Now I know it isn't widely popular a topic, but there are a lot of Extreme Christian groups in the world with some Extreme practices. From the one on Borat that "Cures" gayness, to Waco, to that weird little group in almost every city that people spread rumors about. They kiss snakes, they rape altar boys, and protect the men who do it, they drink the cool aid and die. Point is Extremism is just that, what Society deems Extreme, and it comes in all flavors. What kind of crazy are you looking for? We got it! One stop shopping in America, the world's melting pot, we have some dark closets to hide in until the media says it is normal. We don't have to publicly cane gay people, they get constant ridicule all the way through school, often accompanied with the occasional frat boys dishing out a beat down for what is right. That is changing now as the media tells us it is normal and common, people care less and move on.. Gay was the new black people for a long time now, what is next? We gotta have somebody to hate... Oh wait! Islam... Duh... Islam is the new black/gay/insert group here.

And it IS barbaric. It blows my mind that in the 21rst century, there exists such backward thinking as some of the Islamic sects. They rival some of the most primitive and violent religions in the world.

I find it interesting as an observation that most of these Sharia laws pertain to mans desire to have sex with a woman and because they cannot control their instincts, they revert to a book.

It does not stop rampant sexual perversion from occurring though and I could post instances all day of Sharia laden societies dirty little secrets about their men and little boys.

But I'll just leave it at that and remind everyone of the US soldier that was reprimanded because he beat the sh!t out of an Iraqi bloke for sexually abusing a child and let you google that and many many many other instances of the dirty little secret for yourself...at your leisure.
