...and just how can you be sure what is presented as 'truth' is in fact truth at all?? How will you know what is truth...what is real??

Its all well and good to want the truth, to want whats real...but how will you know if you have achieved it or not??

i would not know.. i am just the visionary.. i am not the solution..

but you are right.. that is a mighty hard problem to surpass.... my best bet would be a credible source to the information provided..... i really dont know..

like i said.. i am just the visionary..

Well, you see that is the problem with doing what you say, we dont know what is the truth. Sure we may have some evidence pointing one way or another but there is usually equal evidence pushing the other way. Problem then is neither side can be proven without reasonable doubt.

I hope you understand what I mean by this, there is just no way of telling what is the truth.

Do you want the Truth, or do you want "A Truth You FEEL is true"? For instance, the truth is that John Titor is a hoax... but a lot of people don't accept that truth. Our skeptics and debunkers and science buffs keep this place from passing off a lot of nonsense as "truth"... but there are still some people who feel that the reality is the nonsense that's been debunked.

What is it you want? The glory of having "some secret" that nobody else does? Posting "insider information" (even if leaking it might harm your country?)

There's truth. There's responsible truth. There's the "Funky Truth That The Debunkers All Slam but we KNOW must be true because debunkers are all idiots."

Which truth do you want?

a comunity of well informed individuals building an understanding of the world around ourselves...jsut based on some of the BS posted here, we lack some major info....(not to say anything bad on anyone... i am perhaps one of the most un-informed people you will ever meet)
an open to the public - online - secret exposing center.
would the world be a better place if that were possible??
if not, wouldnt ATS be?

If this is your aim...welcome home. Take the time to pay attention to what is going on around you. There are thousands of people looking at the historical record and current events and taking nothing at face value, nothing for granted. It's up to you as an individual to decide what part of what is shared here is BS and what is not...but at the same time it is also up to you as an individual to understand some one else is exercising that same right. One man's BS is another man's theory...you'll have to learn to live with that. From personal experience - it's a painful learning process.

you surely wouldn't expect ATS to let anyone get access to a feature like the one you have suggested.

You can't have a restricted forum that everyone has access to.

Exactly - otherwise we'd have stuff like this going on again :shk: ...

ATS should take a stand.. get some information thats really 'above' it all and for a CIA of its own.. whats the worst that can happen? People getting too smart for thier own good???

What's the worst? Being arrested probably...second worst? Being shut down...as other sites have when posting top secret info.

As for organization, it's a HUGE board, that covers MANY topics. Most think it fairly easy to navigate within your interests (and most learn of new interests they develop here).

I'd recommend trying some of the various tools here, namely one I recently discovered using....MY ATS. What a great tool! Between that and the search, I think you'll find navigating MUCH easier....

EDIT: Gaz readies his pixy stick again...

I found that rats had nothing that the forums didn't have. I have not since they have made it a monthly returned. ATS definatley has to many what ifs and how come scenarios of stupid questions.

so it wouldnt be a waste of my points then ???

or is rats just ideal thinking??

Really doesn't matter if you go to RATS or not. Points make no diference. What are you going to save them up for? You can't buy anything other than stuff in the ATS store so don't be afraid to use them.

I do think they should allow you to see the topics in RATS so you can make a decision on whether or not there is anything interesting to look at. But again who cares about points.

"Truth is a shattered mirror strewn, each sherd believing itself the whole."
```````````````````````````````
One of the problems of the Patriot Act is that we ordinary citizens who have no intention of terrorizing anybody don't know what the boundaries are FOR US.
Investigative reporting is now illegal, it says? Whistleblowing now has very steep consequences, we observe?
Are people prosecutable just because they're frustrated? Prosecutable because they've been harmed and want to get even or at least get some judicial acknowledgment of their predicament?
Where is the line to be drawn? One of the CIA honchos said, a couple of years ago that dissent is on the same continuum as terrorism. Wow.
So all normal and natural dissent is now illegal, or just the violent kind?
Nothing I have on my hard drive is "classified" at all. Should I be worried?
I dunno!
Eagerly awaiting your proposal for how we should accomplish this feat.
The majority of "information" on this site, and others alike, are conspiracy "THEORIES" for a reason--they are not based on solid facts. It is mostly speculation. It is good to question the commonly accepted "theories" of events in history, but usually the conspiracies are a lot less truthful than the original story.
I think I know what you are seeking, but the fact is that most discussions rarely end in any definitive resolve. I believe most leave a forum thread with a greater understanding of other people's views, and if lucky, a deeper understanding of science.
But not every thing on ATS can be proven or disproven with math or even basic logic.
Maybe a general consensus forum would be more of what you are looking for.
Food for thought...
Hypothesis: This is an educated guess based upon observation. It is a rational explanation of a single event or phenomenon based upon what is observed, but which has not been proved. Most hypotheses can be supported or refuted by experimentation or continued observation.
Theory: A theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers. One scientist cannot create a theory; he can only create a hypothesis.
Scientific Law: This is a statement of fact meant to explain, in concise terms, an action or set of actions. It is generally accepted to be true and universal, and can sometimes be expressed in terms of a single mathematical equation. Scientific laws are similar to mathematical postulates. They dont really need any complex external proofs; they are accepted at face value based upon the fact that they have always been observed to be true.
In general, both a scientific theory and a scientific law are accepted to be true by the scientific community as a whole. Both are used to make predictions of events. Both are used to advance technology.
The biggest difference between a law and a theory is that a theory is much more complex and dynamic. A law governs a single action, whereas a theory explains a whole series of related phenomena.
ATS is what it is...if you can find an alternative website that offers the "truth", the whole "truth", and nothing but the "truth", but also offers the right to question and be questioned on your version of the "truth" better than this sight....well....then you get the big prize. And if you have found that site, then there is no reason to complain how this site is run.
You say that you offer no solutions, and I think that is pretty weak...Most people that complain about something try and offer their own version on how to fix it...you give no such solution, and then criticize anyone who objects to your objections.
If your not part of the solution, your part of the problem (personally, I don't see the problem)
Little harsh isn't it?
It has been my experience that most people who "Complain" generally don't offer a solution, they just complain.
ivanglam had an idea (maybe good, maybe bad) and thats why it should be discussed. To flush out flaws and strong points. ATS is my favorite board, but it is not so perfect that it can't ever be improved.
ivanglam, I don't think you are part of the problem (what ever that is), but listen to good advice/leads of some of the membership, especially the more experienced MODs. ATS is very large and a MOD can steer you to a wealth info and how to properly digest that info.
You may even find more ATS insight in this thread:
