Jacky Sutton acting head of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting in Iraq has been found hanged in an airpoirt toilet in turkey.

from The Guardian

Jacqueline Sutton died at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport, according to local media reports. The Turkish newspaper Hürriyet said she was en route to the Iraqi city of Irbil and was due to change flights in Turkey.

It was not clear how Sutton had died, with some reports saying she had taken her own life. But fellow journalist and development worker Rebecca Cooke called for an international investigation.

from the Huffpost

She was the acting Iraq director for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) at the time of her death.

Her friends questioned Turkish media reports that she killed herself after not having enough money to pay for a new ticket for the connecting flight she had missed.

She is reported to have arrived at Ataturk Airport from London on Saturday night.

Journalist and international development worker Rebecca Cooke said the death was "shocking and sad news" and said it needed "an international not just local" investigation.

The official hypotesis is that she lost a coincidence and committed suicide, after unnamed witnesses told turkish media that she was crying for getting another plane and she had no way to pay it.

This stinks really much especially after the Ankara bombs a week ago and after the killing of Ammar Al Shahbander, the former chief of IWPR in may 2015. She was going to Erbil in iraqui Kurdistan, which should ring a bell, quite a loud one. We'll see how it develops.

EDIT: Adding the Daily Mail article which contains some more background facts.

Turkey killing a British citizen? Just to supress information regarding the Kurds? Isn't that too daring for a country desperate for entry into the EU and Visa free regime and all that?

I think it could be a natural death.

I wonder if she was crying in fear of her life? Was she being followed? Who kills themselves by hanging, in an airport bathroom...all because they missed a flight? Makes little sense, to me at least.

Well, I don't know how somebody hanging ownself with shoe strings can be "natural", but you are looking at the wrong reasons.. It's not the country will that matters, is the party (akp) will, and its will now is staying in power. Turkey is also in a keypoint of the refugee crisis and has many other tools to exert pressure on Europe, nor to mention its will to attack Kurds and give a base to the terrorist trainers.

Yes this is something that crossed my mind aswell, but the turkish media version is very controversial and I've yet to get proper time to check the witness claims, so all this crying might be disinformation to support the state of depression and the suicide version.

I remember when "suicide" looked like this

I hope she died fast..

She probably uncovered some info that should have been left in the dark.

I just read this on google news.

Sounds very suspect that she killed herself over missing her connecting flight. Who would do that??

Instead, she was suicided by someone or some group to shut her up.

These brave journalist types are sitting ducks. I'd go to ninja school or something if I was one.

Hope they get to the bottom of what really happened to her.

I'd bet a lot of them do. But it would also make them even more of a target in certain places because they would look more like a trained international spy than a journalist, perhaps many of them are. In some professions you just can't win.

It does seem strange. If you miss a flight, you either book a hotel and wait a few days or maybe just hang around the airport for a couple of hours. What was the reason she missed her flight? Spent too much time eating a delicious looking chicken sandwich, or underestimated the time taken to get between different airports? Can always blame those on either a "delayed flight" or "bad traffic" as a cover story.

Was she planning on meeting and interviewing someone? How would she know that the bathroom wouldn't be disturbed, that whatever rope she used was strong enough, that whatever she used to tie the rope around was strong enough to support her weight? This seems to be more of a recreation of Saddam's last days.

Surprise, surprise...the CCTV cameras in the international terminal of Istanbul Airport were either 'not working' or the tapes have already been erased, according to her boss. Her organisation are now trying to get CCTV footage from Heathrow to see what kind of shoes she was wearing (as apparently she hung herself using her boot laces).

This stinks.

Poor lady was wacked to close her mouth! This is a classic MO for shutting someone up. There has been so many cases with this MO! And from people who stated categorically in the media that they would never off themselves!!

She was followed in the toilet by possible 2 people and strung up. I bet if someone did an independent auto on her she would have either a needle mark or a head bruise!

The world we live in I'm afraid!

Untimely deaths of members[edit]
On October 18, 2015, the IWPR acting Iraq director, Jacqueline Anne Sutton (a.k.a. Jacky Sutton), age 50, was found hanged in a bathroom stall of Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport. She had been on her way to Irbil.[10] [11]

On May 2, 2015, the previous IWPR Iraq director, Ammar Al Shahbander, was killed in a car bomb attack, along with up to 17 other people.[10][12]

On June 7, 2007, IWPR journalist Sahar Hussein al-Haideri, age 44, was murdered by gunmen as she left her home in Mosul[13] IWPR is establishing a journalists' assistance fund in her name.[13]

Institute for War and Peace Reporting

Suicidal, of course. All of them...
Trust governments and believe everything. Nothing happened at all. Ever.

(GOOD) Journalists are and always have been the true hero's of this world.

I have a bad feeling that this story will sadly disappear over time though.

Unfortunately, some Iraqis may think the journalists are profiting from the break-up of their country, and that the journalists are working for Western agencies.

There is something fishy going on in Turkey and I bet that's related to what's happening in Syria right now. That official story of her death, is pure BS, why would someone commit suicide for missing a flight.

That's also an indication, or rather an intimidation to those who try to uncover the mess that's really happening now inside Turkey and it's boarders near Syria.

Killed herselfself for missing a flight, job at airport? Sounds like an assassination to me.

Got to admit, this sounds just a tad bit strange.

I've missed more than one flight in my time, never, not once, did I contemplate hangin' myself. ...and at an airport? Really?

Something is very much amiss, here.

What's going on?

I don't trust Turkey, especially Erdogen. His anti-Israel rants/illegal boat deliveries just creates more trouble in the region.I can't speak to Turkey's Relationship with the EU but I can question their loyalty and dependability to the NATO alliance.

It is not usual to check out in such a public place as within an airport. But a lot of such events are totally unexpected and a shocking surprise for friends and family. Whatever was in Jacky Suttons mind at that sad time we might never know, I hope she is now at peace..
