Sorry if this isn't the correct forum, just seemed appropriate to me.

I'm looking to by the Sony FS700 however I'm at a miss with the differences between the FS700RH and the FS700EK. Does anyone know the actual difference between the two?

It looks like the EK is an older model of the FS700 series, that's about the only difference I see.

I had a feeling it was since the E came after the standard FS700. I think that's when 4k was introduced to it. Didn't want to spend near £5k on one then finding out another not far off that had a few better features. I'll keep researching though before hand. Thanks for your input.

General Chit Chat would probably be a better forum for a question like this.

Looking over the specs, it appears they are the same with the EK being discontinued and the RH being the new model.

The images however show different zoom lens with the better on the RH, but the specs sheets says they are the same. That may be what you need to look at to see if you are getting the different zoom lens.

Spec Sheets:

NEX-FS70 0EK
NEX-FS700RH

Ahh thank you. I noticed a month ago the EK was discounted for a week then went, and the RH took it's place. I've seen a lot of well made footage of the RH and reviews so I think I'll go for that.

I believe it is coming with that lens yes. Will have to stock up on some more seen as I've been going Canon for a few years haha.

I do some minor photography on the side and use a Canon dslr... I'm just wondering what made you make the switch from Canon to Sony??

Canon doesn't offer any great professional camcorders that are up to par with the standards I need to make. The FS700 has all of what we need, 2k, 4k, both with high frame rates of up to 120fps, great dynamic range and low light shooting, and for an affordable price. I was gonna go for a PXW-FS7 but the FS700 is a few thousand cheaper and just what I was looking for. I guess from experience I just prefer Sony as they've been more reliable and have produced better results for me. I'd say Canon are more focused on photography than they are videography in my eyes. Sony's the opposite.

I'll also add that Canon over value their products. You get more from an FS700 than you do with a C300 just as a comparison. They're around the same amount.
