Well I guess those people that say they read playboy for the articles can prove it now.

"Playboy Enterprises Inc., which helped usher in the sexual revolution but has stumbled in the digital era, said it no longer would publish nude photos in its flagship magazine, which built its reputation on spreads featuring pop-culture icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Farrah Fawcett and Madonna."

Maybe Hugh Hefner is going a bit senile, but he's got enough money not to care. This is an end of an era in a manner of speaking, but times change even if we don't want them to.
I wonder how much this will hurt their circulation?

In the 60's there use to be a running joke "I buy Playboy for the articles".

Bye Bye Playboy magazine! If they thought the digital age hurt Playboy's circulation, this will surely kill what remains of it. I know many say they get it for the articles, but lets face reality here, without that nude spread this magazine is just another magazine. They would now be competing with the likes of Stuff, Maxim, and the other regular guys magazines.

This is equivalant to 'Pigs to no longer be made into bacon.'

What's the point?

I think it's an inevitable move if he want's to keep Playboy alive , back in the day they had the market cornered but in the internet age the magazine is a thing of the past , evolve or die.

They're subscribers who buy for their nude photos must've been reduced in numbers significantly once the internet became a factor anyway.

It is funny though - we will see how many people stick around after the nudies are gone

End of an era?

More like the end of the world as we know it.

It might hurt theirs and some of their readers circulation if there are no nudie pics to look at

Oh that's terrible,,,,lol
To be honest I have not seen a playboy in years, so I was not helping their cause anyway.
I think the article said they had 800k subscribers now.

It's a sign of the times. With the plethora of websites dedicated to pornography videos, it makes Playboy nothing more than a quaint relic.

That being said, here's a short clip that sums up the cultural change that led to this.

Hef is long retired. His daughter is running the business.

People ask, "Why the nudes"? They are probably the most expensive part of putting the magazine together.

Who even buys any kind of porn these days? The internet has infinite everything of anything you will ever want.

Plus the times have changed and moved from skinny blonde white girls with big tits. Now its about phat asses and curves, there aint no PAWGS on playboy

A nudey mag with no nudey pics.

That'll work.

Let's be honest, for as long as search engines have been around, Playboy has merely been a tame softcore magazine.

Wow,
No new generation feeling that "excitement" of finding his dads (grandpa, uncle) stash.

Hubby still has a bunch in the closet somewhere that are old ones.

Maybe we should hang on to them?

Antique porn. LOL

Different excitement. Some of those magazines are worth a lot.

Many a lonely night upon the 7 seas the lovely ladies of Playboy have kept me a friend of mine company, as well as Penthouse and Mayfair, I wonder what I'm my friend and indeed all sailors are gonna do without Hughs masterpiece(s)?

Popeye didn't have huge forearms from splicing rope I'll have you know - he was ambidextrous and his nudie-pic of Olive Oyl was hot!
