Sorry to sound a bit communist.

but why do you need a higher power of it is already in you?

You don't need him.

You have what it takes to be a 'good' person already within you.
Jesus doesn't do that.
You do.

sounds like that comment wasn't directed to me or you don't understand what i've been saying

let me rephrase:

for there to be 3d reality, there has to be a recording device to materialize photons from quantum flux to solid, material reality. YOU, me, everybody, is a recording device. we are creating the universe. we are choosing and not choosing to continue to exist. jesus was the most high who informed me that i'm a copy of the most high, you are a copy, everybody's a copy. a copy of what? the most high! doh!

We don't agree often Murgy, but I'll give you this much. I do wonder just how much has been hidden from the masses to keep us as ignorant as possible. But that's a topic for another thread. Starred.

Is Jesus an Alien?

Are Aliens angels?

Are UFO's related to Jesus or aliens or angels?

If aliens, angels, UFO's or Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Moses, Abraham, Zeus, Apollo, et al do not and have never existed then the planet Earths inhabitants have, are and will continue to suffer from a mass psychosis the likes of which is simply indescribable.

therefore - the matrix.

Yes you do, but that was something already ratified with Jesus by example, so Jesus does show a way as a confidence. Any, 'higher deity' than Jesus is the problem and frankly any, 'higher deity' is shown as less than a God since the Bible says he actually killed in an anger...might have killed Moses and so on. That doesn't mean that there is or was something akin to God as a progenitor of what we are, that's the paradox, and you cannot ignore it.

Well, the religions are used as the basis for all the programming and how it has gotten here.

Good point, everyone is largely just as brainwashed and controlled with or without it.

But NOTHING in religion or anywhere else brings anything good to the table and really never has.

ALL of it is a dead stop to the real meanings that should have been found millions of years ago.

Everyone is being had, all of the time, religions or not, its ALL RELIGION.

If you look at the aims of the religious who are made up of unelected power brokers who want to govern you, you can't help realising that they operate with every bit of the the same motivation politicians have for going into politics in the first place.

You only have to look at the fact they nearly all wear a religious uniform as such. Its not worm to keep warm or for modesty but to denote they are the religious important and you had better get out of their way.

In fact they are, if you take the confidences they are privy to far better informed than the police usually.

The trouble is that the desert religions provide politicians in a frock and they are basically authorised by the governmental power in the country where they operate. Their message is to make you accept your lot with grace and obedience. Remember blessed are the meek etc? If people are confined its godly to be meek in everything they do and think, they are so much easier to govern and dominate.

Has anyone seen God recently any type of God or his minions? Yet our religious assure you some invisible entity governs your life and is watching you, but would you believe this in any other context - Nope!

You are not better because you lack religion.

I'm going to have to disagree with that, simply because religion is responsible for more death in the last 5,000 years or so years than anything else.

I'll say those that aren't killing are better than those that are.

Maybe I'm crazy.

Well, to answer your OP, since when has conforming or accepting someone else ideas required any sort of intelligence? Conforming also removes any responsibility you might have for your own actions in the name of whatever you want to conform to. Just look at the Nazis, they felt they were doing the right thing and did so with no remorse. Just like the crusaders back in the middle ages.

The big question is: Why do people conform to ideas not cooked up in their own being? Why do they not follow their own inner light and be responsible (response able) for their own actions?

Proposed multifaceted answer :

Fear. Fear of being shunned by others, not accepted. Fear of the unknown (includes death). Yet the unknown is all there is (we also start dying the moment we are born), anything other is just a mental construct that DOES NOT conform to reality as it is more multifaceted than anyone wants to realize or admit and it is terrifying for the small human mind of ours, to not know.

Mental effort, hardly none required when you conform. The easy way out, someone has already figured it out for you. Just like flicking on the TV after work. Why is the world the way it is with all the imaginary divisions that just create conflict and remove us from the truth, reality? In all my years (45 now), I have noticed that mental laziness is a dominating aspect of the human race along with getting entangled in trivia. That is why we do not get along with each other, thinking the other one is separate, removed from our sphere, different and even opposing.

Continue the list if I forgot something...

And just for the record, I don't think I am better than anyone, but my mind and my being is at peace. How many of you others can say that? How many of you tremble with various non-manifested future fears and expectations and look for salvation under every rock, but not within your own being?

Well high is the operative word. And you are definitely the most high as are any others that believe any of that drivel. Next religion will claim that mathematics is a religion.....wait for it......

For me, this is true to an extent. When I meet a person who babbles on about the lord/god being responsible for good things in our world, quotes scripture or boasts of their religion, I immediately categorize them as less intelligent. When I see the countless posts on FB begging for likes if you love Jesus or some related bs, I see someone who just blindly follows along with a pathetic belief system. I would never consider dating a religious person as I would want to be with someone who thinks for themselves rather than following the invisible authority figure in the sky.

A good example for this could be how sometimes, a child might say something silly and ridiculous about something they believe to be truth. Like "I know there's a monster in my closet" or "vegetables are poison" or any number of awesome things that kids believe(they get pretty out there sometimes) and you just smile BECAUSE you know that's not the case, but you can't convince them otherwise. They're just not there yet.

Unfortunately, many of these believers are much more in your face about it and many of them have power. They hire others with their same beliefs and give them more opportunities while shunning those of us who do not follow their dogma. They stand together and let the pool of ignorance grow stronger around them, shielding them from knowledge by only being around others who agree with them. They rally cries of victimization when confronted with their ignorance and yet when seen in groups that truly have political power, they admonish those around them with death and torture and shun those that do not believe. And then they wonder why we think less of them.

It seems to be a trend on ats these days, people believing they are better, smarter, more enlightened because they don't conform to any religion, or perhaps lack belief in general. This does NOT make you better, it makes you different. Just as being a part of a religion and having certain beliefs doesn't make a person better.

People much more renowned in the world than all of us here have been a part of an organized religion.

People much more renowned in the world than all of us here have either lacked connection to an organized religion, or lacked belief in general.

The world is much more complex than one part of a person's life.

Calling someone a sheeple, a follower, acting like another lacks intelligence, in mind or in spirit because they conform to the same ideas as a massive religion does is extreme ignorance, bigotry, and just plain short sighted.

/end rant

Cheers Ats, have a good weekend.

( for the record, I am more spiritual, less religious. I am not defending myself in this post)

The 'devil' is generally in the detail.

'Lack' was a stoopid word to use...the reason should be fairly obvious...

...and it is generally the way these discussions go - so-called theists making the huge assumption from the get go...that of superiority. It's not a good way to start an honest discussion...because it is dishonest - a dynamic that is not condusive to a discussion, but a powerplay, from the beginning...

Ehhh. Most religions, in particular the three Abrahamic religions, condition humans at a very early age to not question and critically think. It also instills heavy fear over death, hell and abandonment. It assumes that people are inherently dirty, leading to irrational guilt at a very early age. The Christian religion requires a belief that God will destroy the planet, leaving little incentive to take care of it. It also gives men an excuse to degrade and abuse women and animals.

So I'm not really on board with the idea that religious people are harmless. I have a lot more trust in rational, scientifically minded people. They're much more grounded in reality and don't make blind decisions based on superstitions.

in answer to the title of the thread...

Three words.

"Yes I am".

I don't hate gay people, I don't fiddle with little boys, I believe in equal rights for every human (not religion), Sexual equality, gender equality, ethnic equality, freedom of choice and separation of church and state.

All of which are violently opposed by one or more of the mainstream religions of the world.

I would never harm another human being or creature, while my religious counterparts would find it easy to kill in the name or their gods.

I consider myself to be a good person, who follows the law and helps those in need, all without having to dive into some religious book for guidance on how to behave and treat others.

What makes you think you are better just because you hold a bible in one hand and judge anyone who does not follow your beliefs, be you Christian, Muslim, Jewish or anything else.

My apologies for the lack of replies, ladies and gents! I had a family function over the weekend.

I agree that religious people commit heinous crimes, sometimes even with the religion itself fueling crimes.

I agree that it's wrong to be intolerant to others, and say that the Bible makes you a better person.

I agree with a lot of statements, but in the end, we are human and are bound to either look down on others or be looked down on ourselves. Such is life, religion or no religion. It's wrong to look down on someone because they have faith in the Bible or any other book, in my opinion. Calling them less intelligent, calling names, addressing them as sheeple does not create peace. It does nothing good at all.

That's just nitpicking. I'm not a part of any religion, nor even read the Bible, so I'm not pushing something onto you.

I would use the word lack in any case I mean "absence of" or "don't have"

I feel I should clarify my post by saying, that while yes, I categorize them as less intelligent within, I would not likely accuse them of being so outright or publicly(There have been rare exceptions, but those people...).

However, that's essentially what I've said within my post, so in this case, I have insulted such people in a general fashion. I'm just being truthful about how I feel inside when I come across such folks. Mostly, I just try to urge others to think for themselves and learn more. No one likes to be called "stupid" and that's certainly no way to have a meaningful discussion. There's a lot of inner pity as well seeing people clinging so steadfastly to an unhealthy way of thinking. Unable to break away.

I don't see myself as "better" as in, if it were me or some religious person in a "one person gets out alive" situation, I may not necessarily be the best choice to survive. That would depend on other factors. For instance, a young nurse(m or f) that is devout, but spends their lives helping others, I would bow out. Just because I see them as not challenging their beliefs enough, does not automatically rule them out from being a good person that deserves a full life.

the last 500 years of scientific thought has been mostly from the minds of religious men. you, today, hold as if it were your own ideas, the brain children of religious scientists from earlier generations.

you really should be ashamed of yourselves
