Exactly. Even Republicans carrying out the most lop-sided investigation ever can't make anything stick to PP. I mean, that's got to tell you something. This isn't Democrats that came to this conclusion. A REPUBLICAN said that he couldn't find any wrong doing on PP's part.

Yet conservative members are just straight up ignoring this like it isn't a pertinent part of the discussion or trying to play semantics games with quotes from the article so they don't have to admit they were wrong. The cognitive dissonance is working in OVERDRIVE to prevent pro-lifers from admitting they may have been wrong about PP. It's terrifying.

Evidence of what? That they are selling fetal tissue?

They found no wrong doing in that so again what do the videos have to do with this.

Did they review the videos?

I don't know... but if they are doing an investigation and they DIDN'T watch the videos that supposedly bolster their case, they're not only incompetent, but even more wasteful of taxpayers' money that I thought. Not only do they have free access to the edited videos, as we all do, Jason Chaffetz supposedly has David Daleiden;s hard drive, which contains the ACTUAL unedited versions, which are unavailable to the public at this time.

Top House Democrats say Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, received the footage about two weeks ago but has refused to share it. The release of edited versions of the footage has prompted some GOP lawmakers to call for the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

"Chaffetz has in his possession right now, a computer hard drive that contains videos produced by David Daleiden, the head of the group that tried to entrap Planned Parenthood," Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., said, interrupting the chamber's debate on legislation expanding the investigation into Planned Parenthood.

A Democratic aide said Chaffetz is in "direct violation" of a recent subpoena for the unedited footage -- as is Daleiden for handing over the uncut footage only to Republicans, when the subpoena requires copies for both parties.

At least some of them have seen the vids.

Most Republicans have responded to the edited versions of the videos with calls to strip Planned Parenthood of its federal funding, which has traditionally amounted to millions of dollars.

Planned Parenthood is being investigated for political reasons, not because they are doing anything wrong. Some people wish that Roe v Wade went the other way.

Republicans have lost touch with reason these days. Much of what they do is not based in fact, but propoganda.

Unedited, according to who? We've had numerous investigations and allegations headed by the conservatives. The last thing I want my representatives to do is go on witch hunts for political reasons. The investigation both the conservatives and liberals should have spent time on was the war in Iraq! Yet they conveniently let the Bush administration slide on that one, even though we lost over 5000 of our military personal and over 100,000 Iraqi civilians. How about an independent investigation on 9/11, where we lost 3,000 American civilians? Where was the outrage and lack of investigations on these two events? I do blame both parties for not demanding an investigation into the Iraq war and an independent investigation into 9/11.

These witch hunts are all for political gain. Just like repealing Obama Care when they knew there was no chance in hell they could repeal it. How about the claim of death panels during the ratification of the Affordable Care Act? How about the efforts to repeal same sex marriage? How about the efforts used by some representatives claiming Obama wasn't a U.S. citizen? How about the Benghazi investigations, and now the Clinton e-mails? How about the 4 million dollars spent on Bill Clinton extramarital affair with a staff worker! Would any corporation spend that kind of money to find out if someone was having an office affair?

Don't you see the common thread here? These latest claims are all lead by the far right!

What do the videos have to do with investigating their revenue?

That was my point, nothing at all. They investigated a different issue. Selling dead baby parts never came up because thats the subject of the videos, thats the 800 lb gorilla in the room. As soon has they address that they have to admit it was going on and… tilt, can't go there.

So they investigate something else.

Of course they have access and reviewed it, they just didn't address it. I was being facetious.

How could they address it?

Like OJ denying he owned an expensive pair of Italian shoes that left a distinctive blood print at the crime scene, he was photographed at games with those on, yet he denies ever owning a pair.

Question: "Is that a picture of you wearing a pair of those shoes?"

Answer: "Nope".

That is what you are implying but not the fact of the matter. Those videos were supposed to show them profiting illegally from the sale. The investigation looked at how they got their money and found no wrong doing. What part are you missing?

well, the excuse was that they would do another investigation concerning the videos when they got the rest of them.....which they couldn't do because the judge in the lawsuit where the National Abortion Federation sued CMP supposedly wouldn't release them to the congress.... not sure if that is really true but what the heck... the fact is that while CMP was asking the judge to allow them to send the videos to congress, they were was pleading the fifth trying to avoid releasing them to the NAF and and avoiding discovery. but well, the judge finally ruled that CMP could give them to congress but also had to go through with the discovery and provide the NAF with a copy also. weather either of these copies are edited or now is no one's guess, but we probably won't get to see any of the footage on these videos because they are still barred from releasing them publicly, to protect the members of NAF.

But what little bit they talked about the video footage in the hearing that I listened to, which wasn't much, wasn't involved with what was taped in the NAF conference, and the republicans did have those videos at that time, they just didn't chose to. Wouldn't surprise me if they had already looked at them and realized that there wasn't anything incriminating on them and therefore useless.

But, if I am understanding what I have read to date (and not confusing when what I read was recorded), Chaffetz is still insisting that Planned Parenthood is making plenty of money and therefore should be providing care to medicaid and title x patients, only not getting reimbursements for it?

oh, and as long as there are so many states that are refusing to expand their medicaid, he is wrong, ACA does not make title x obsolete or redundant. there are still plenty of people in those state left out of the healthcare system.

Actually they never filmed anything illegal, they never caught the actual sale or transfer of money or tissue illegally. They just got caught talking about their practice of doing that, obviously.

The investigation into their finances wouldn't reflect anything illegal either. now would it? That was a pretty safe investigation. Who documents illegal practice in the company ledgers?

The part thats missing is the probe into the sales of dead baby parts and the method (like partial births) that were used to procure them, during the abortion 'procedure'.

And thats is all over the videos, no matter how many pages or threads or 'investigations' of BS people use as distraction to cover that up.

Almost done contributing to one more disingenuous, 'what, who me' thread about this.

The guy that headed this investigation had the videos, can you show they didn't look into them at all?

Or could it be that there really wasn't anything illegal in them and just people edited it to make it look worse and people like Finoria taking them out of context. What she described happened but was an abortion but a still birth.

Which should tell you something. If a Republican led witch hunt doesn't want to call the VERY evidence that started this whole stupid circus in the first place it PROBABLY means that the evidence is flawed.

I'm not one to fall for the liberal vs conservative/ right vs left facade, but I have no respect for the republican party anymore.

This was a manufactured story to spark outrage against Planned Parenthood.

The republican party has waged a war against women's rights, against science, demonizes the poor, yet for some reason they still have the support of ignorant people who are getting screwed by their policies and agenda.

It is just freaking unbelievable how so many can get hoodwinked into voting against their interests over and over again, then some how get their faithful to blame the 'otherside' for the problems their policies create.

They do not want single young women to have access to affordable birth control, then when a someone has a child they cannot afford, they attack that person for seeking government assistance(welfare).

That mentality is beyond ignorant.

You know what sucks? The damage has been done already...

Planned Parenthood Probes Find No Wrongdoing, But The Damage Has Been Done

In July, the Center for Medical Progress began releasing selectively edited videos of Planned Parenthood staff members discussing the health care provider's fetal tissue donation program. Anti-abortion advocates immediately began accusing Planned Parenthood of profiting off the sale of fetal tissue, which would be illegal. Multiple investigations were launched in Congress and in the states. They turned up no evidence that Planned Parenthood was doing anything other than receiving legal reimbursements for the cost of processing the donations.

That doesn't seem to matter to GOP elected officials across the country.

"The videos, as dishonest as the videos are, have had their intended effect," said Sara Rosenbaum, a professor in health law and policy at George Washington University. "They gave everybody the platform to work from that they had lacked up until now."

On the federal level, the government was almost shut down in an effort to slash $528 million in funding to Planned Parenthood. On the state level, some Republican governors cut the organization out of their Medicaid programs. Several states stopped directing federal Title X funding to the group. Title X pays for cancer screenings, contraception and tests sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for low-income women.

In other states, the legislature is currently debating what bucket of funding it will target. At this point, Planned Parenthood has prevailed in just one state, Georgia, as the map below illustrates.

Plus, we'll have to hear from idiotic pro-lifers talking about this controversy for years after everything dies down, just like we have to hear about Climategate all the time from the climate deniers. It irks me to no end that CMP isn't facing criminal charges for this whole thing.

I used to call this controversy a manufactured scandal, but it's not longer that. I like the term witch hunt now. Because that's what it has become. No hard evidence of wrongdoing, kangaroo courts, and punishments without proper due process.

HA! There you have it. Even the Republicans are being forced to admit that Planned Parenthood hasn't done anything wrong. Can we PLEASE all admit that this scandal was a manufactured crisis now?

Of course it was. Most political "scandals" are (at best) blown way out of proportion. The question isn't whether or not it was manufactured but why?

Yes, yes. I know all about the Republican anti-abortion thing. That doesn't really explain why they would manufacture a scandal that they had to have known would ultimately only end up exposing them as liars. This makes no sense even to the dumbest minds. Common street criminals are smarter than this. I don't buy that they didn't expose themselves on purpose. But again, if they did, why did they do that?

That simple question seems to lead down a pretty narrow corridor with not very many possible answers. The only one that makes sense to me is far more "interesting" than the fact that politicians are liars. Everybody knows that.

You answered your own question. Just check your facebook feed.....idiots latching onto the 24hr( 15 mins nowadays it seems) news cycle before even doing alittle cursory research. If you think the majority, of the current crop of politicians, are any brighter then the common criminal....I'm afraid your mistaken. That's why most of them are politicians, remember the popular guy from high school that got by on everything but their intelligence, easily swayed...... #TRENDING #GOINGROGUE #PROMKING
