2015 Halloween Writer's Contest***RESULTS POSTED***

Hello Everyone!

Well since summer is over and I don't have any excuses to be lazy anymore, how about we start off this round of writing contests with Halloween?

It's the season for Witches and Ghouls, Wraiths and candy!

We haven't had one of these in a while, so the rules are going to be a little lax this time around, just to get everybody's head in the game.

I'm accepting all forms of writing. Short stories and poems, you can write a limerick if you'd like. You can write as many different flavors as you'd like, but only 1 official entry!

As a special mention, please be mindful of gore in your stories. Yes I know it's Halloween and a little mess is required, but let's not write the kind of gore than you're supposed to enjoy, for the sake of gore alright?

Rules Of Entry

The contest will run from Friday 10/02/15 to Sunday 10/31/15 at Midnight. Any submissions after that date will be disqualified. A period of voting after the closing of the contest will also be provided.

6 days of voting.

All T&C's Apply

All entries MUST include [Halloween2015] in the title.

All entries must be linked in this thread. You must include [writer] / [non-writer] in your submission post within this thread.

There is no minimum or maximum character count.

1 Single Submission Per Member

There will be 3 winners among members who already have "Writer" status. They will be judged separately from all other entries based on stars and flags received.

1st Place -- 5 Applause, and selection of the next contest theme
2nd Place -- 3 Applause
3rd Place -- 1 Applause

There will also be 3 winners from the non-writer category who will receive the following:

1st Place -- 3 Applause & Writer Status
2nd Place -- 2 Applause & Writer Status
3rd Place -- 2 Applause

Scoring

Flags will be worth 2 points each.
Stars will be worth 1 point each.

*Stars for subsequent posts (ie. additions to the story) will be worth .5 stars.

All right!

I humbly submit my official entry, A Cold, Pale Sun. Status: [writer].

It is short enough (should take only a few minutes to read), and the plot is not very complicated (I instead focused on perfecting its atmosphere) - yet it does have quite a twist to it, I hope you enjoy it.

Question.

How many of you would be happier with 2 entries instead of one? I would score both and only the one with the most stars/flags would make it to final roster.

I might have to give this a go. The weather is right. The leaves are turning. I feel that evil little itch to unleash the darkness.

Answer to tenth: two entries would be fine. I'm going to concentrate on one really quality one, though. To each their own. Can't wait to read the entries!

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I cant wait to read the other entries.

Finally... The appointed time is upon us. The darkness comes. I can fly in the night, dancing on the wind, drinking the tears of angels. I can take off my human face and gorge on the dark dreams of my fellow ATS writers. Oh what a meal I will have.



My story is probably still a few days away from completion. In the meantime. I will delight in the other entries while eating candy corn and bathing in blood.

Many times I had considered submitting a short for one of the contests. It's taken seven years for me to commit. I'm in.

It is a matter of just how open minded ATS is. I still think I might get booed off the stage, as my writing is an acquired taste.
