And in the US we are chalk full of guns and we still have shootings, more then anyone else.
So tell me how is more guns then answer?

It would actually be "Chock" full. Anywho....sure we are, but you know what stats we always hear? Only mass shootings. the majority of gun deaths are gang bangers killing each other. Let them eradicate themselves. I could care less about them

Ok...so lets take guns out of the equation for a minute. You think the number of attacks in general will decrease? If the number of attacks does not decrease after guns are taken away, then is the problem still guns? Granted, the number of people killed in an attack may be less, but what is the real issue?

My problem is that people are attacking guns as the issue. The real issues is people. Sure you can take guns away, just as you can ban alcohol or smoking in areas.....when that happens, what do people do? They hide their smoking and hide their purchasing alcohol, but they still do it.

Bans and laws won't work. You are fighting against law abiding gun owners.

Tragedies happen daily.

I just love how the political opponents can say something needs to be done, then in the same breath saying bomb an entire community of civilians and blame it on mistaken sources but they were trying to do the right thing.

One does get the sense of an all pervasive cockiness and disregard for doing the right thing among US policy makers at the highest levels and then again what do I know I'm no politician.

Horrible time with Derrick, I used to live in that area, had done since I was born, we all knew him! Knowing someone who has gone on a rampage like that messes with your head.

It had ripples throughout the community, even on my job, as one of the people killed worked for a Solicitors I was in contact with on a daily basis (I used to work in criminal law).

So yes horrible times.

I find it concerning that NSW Police received a tip-off that this was going to occur yet no additional security measure seem to have been taken, leaving a couple of special constables to take down the threat.

Yet:

As of 2015 about 815,000 people had a gun licence in Australia and there was around 3.5 to 5.5 million Registered Firearms in Australia.

So plenty of guns still there....I wonder what the REAL problem is.....doesn't appear to be the guns.

You're conveniently forgetting the fact that our gun laws here prevent assault rifles from getting into the wrong hands. Thats what the restrictions are about here, keeping high powered weapons out of peoples hands who do not NEED them.

The kid didn't need a hand gun, yet he still managed "very easily", to get one on the fly.

The only thing Australia's gun laws prevent is people (like all the ones who died in the café siege), cant protect themselves. If someone or everyone in that café had been carrying, not one person would have died, other than the religious fruitcake (who also incidentally was able to get a gun somehow), that took them hostage.

Gun Prohibition does not reduce crime, it does not prevent crazies or extremists.

A disarmed country is not a crime free, peaceful country. A disarmed country is a country full of sitting ducks.

Your wrong. Its a fact we are safer.

We are a peaceful country. We are not sitting ducks.

Your refusal to accept the truth is bordering on a new form of crazy.

And about ducks....if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck....its a frigging duck. Unless your a gun loving American. then its a pigeon in disguise looking to rob you of your freedom and harm all of your family.

You are the exact reason why the whole world now fears for your country.

Take your illogical nonsense elsewhere. It's easy for you to sit in your basement judging other countries you obviously know NOTHING WHATSOEVER about, while totally ignoring the factual evidence that completely disproves your ridiculous point of view.

Why am I not surprised though? Yet another arrogant, ignorant American claiming they know more about countries they have never been to than the people who friggin live here. I strongly suggest you do some research, or bugger off.

WTF are you talking about, I have lived in Stralia all my life m8. Never been to Merica. And I don't have a basement. And I have done the research.

As I posted in another thread.. The government website where crime statistics for the last ten years are held and it goes a long way to proving that gun violence in Australia is as bad as it ever was before prohibition. www.aic.gov.au...

As well as the estimated number of unregistered, illegal guns floating around this country in the hands of criminals.
www.nqhfs.com.au...

1.5 million to 6 million. That's more guns in the hands of criminals, than the combined ownership of nationwide legally owned guns pre-prohibition. (wonder how many of these firearms are waiting for terrorists to obtain).

So what is illogical?

Is it illogical to assume that the café victims would not all have died anyway if any of them had been armed? Illogical to assume that the 15 year old obtained one of the 1.5million - 6 million illegal guns in the country and killed a total stranger in the name of his religion (most probably with the intent to go on killing before he was cut down, which lucky for us he was).

Gang, drug and other violence in Australia is at an all time high. Gun related crimes have not reduced much at all since the firearms ban.

Why don't you get your facts straight before ranting and insulting someone for stating facts you actually know nothing about yourself.

Australia is not a peaceful country, and the majority of law abiding citizens are sitting ducks..!! We're just waiting for another 15 year old Islamic extremist to target a mall, school or theatre, where the only choice for people will be death because there's nobody or nothing to help them in that instant.

Yet people like you care little about that sort of thing. It won't be you in that situation, it'll be someone else. Someone else's brother, sister, child or parent. So let them be sacrificial lambs for your own selfish peace of mind.

If America didn't poke it's nose into everyone elses business I might agree that you have a point.

But as we live in a world where America thinks it has the right to interfere with the rest of the worlds business then I claim the right to have my say on events in America to my hearts content. Don't like it? TOUGH.

Now go back to tenderly stroking your gun and not caring how many people die as long as you get to keep it.
