"We have a galaxy full of 10 billion planets, in habitable zones, roughly Earth-size, [but] no visits, no communications we've picked up.

We are SO CAPABLE to pick up signals sent before 1898...right.

Yes, this concludes this bs, +1 for you, Sir.

Fermi Paradox

Are you, fkin' kiddin' me? How this anthropoenctic, flawed, knowledge can determine lack of intelligent life somewhere?
Hey, you did not made any thoughts about reality, right?

its truely hard to appreciate the levels of ignorance is presented in the quotes from the ops (not the ops himself).

hundreds of billiosn of galaxys housing hundreds billions of stars each, of that having potentially dozens of planets per star system.
the number of possibilities for life are so astronomically high that it would literally take a deity to ensure no other lifeforms are evolving.

he is complaining that he woke up on a raft in the center of the ocean and looked around for a half second, spotted no ships, so concluded the earth is absolutely void of all life...after all he looked in all directions. even squinted and everything.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I definitely disagree of their disheartening opinion based soley on how little science has discovered. But I can see sort of where they are coming from.

Sorry if I misjudged your intention. I'm new at this. ha ha.

All I can say to this guy is, "if I were an Alien to this world, watching all the stupid and destructive things that humans do to the planet and each other.....I wouldn't answer either."

I am sure if aliens are out there and watching us,they are shaking their heads and going wtf? I know I do. Just see this post to prove it www.abovetopsecret.com...

Bracing for a barrage of pseudo-scientific warp theories, worm holes , alternate cosmologies etc.

burrrrrrp.

No pseudo-scientific theories needed.

Can you detect cave men, aborigines, indians ? Can they visit earth or send signals ?

thank you and good night.

It's all good...just don't take it as gospel. It has become a religion...and like all religions...most of the times they are just talking out of their arses. Using their scientific "models" to explain the nature of reality...which always ultimately fails.

You can spot this by the wordings like..."Scientists previously thought..." and "models predicted..., but new discoveries...bla bla".

Sorry if I misjudged your intention. I'm new at this. ha ha.

No apologies necessary. I brush of virtual reality comments like nobody's busyness.

Have fun.

Ok first of all SETI is the only one looking for radio signals of advanced civilizations. Secondly our telescopes do just that, find stars, planets, earth like planets, in the habital zones. Thirdly we don't have telescopes or even rovers looking for life yet. Lastly he is ignoring all UFO encounters.

He is incredibly eager to find advanced civilizations, how does he know no one came in the past? Why does he not take the stance as most NASA scientist say we will find life in the next 20 years?

Ah I see they exist but are undetectable. Sounds familiar. Like something I see derided here quite often. What is it? Ah yes religion. Pseudo-scientific would have its basis in the lack of scientific evidence such as the proposed undetectable xeno caveperson. Makes for good sci-fi though

so you're telling me you can detect a cavemen civilisation 100 Ly form Earth ?

okey dokey.

Mind telling me the means with which we can do this ?

You are telling me that cave people on other planets exist solely because we cannot detect them? Its a theory a thought nothing more. It has as much credence as unverifiable religious claims. I am religious I am just drawing the comparison here and pointing out how far people will grasp at straws using the same logic they dismiss others for.

I don't think he's saying there's no other life out there mate just that maybe we were an evolutionary quirk , there will be other Galaxies in the Universe where that quirk also happened but we may be few and far between.

If you think about it if Humans hadn't evolved there would be no signals from this planet either , no other creature has obtained that level of evolution even though it is teaming with life.

Yes, but that's the reason I mentioned Richard Hoover's Crinoid, that is life at already some multi-evolutionary stage, at least as we currently understand evolution. Then there is the notion that life evolves where there is water, (that's possibly what NASA will be talking about soon regarding Mars) but still and all, for a couple of individuals to say there has been no contact, is not necessarily in their realm or speciality.

No man...I'm telling you if there were...we wouldnt know it.

SInce our own civ has gone through that kind of process...you know..Cavemen--->industrial revolution---> detectable civilization....it's not really a far fetched idea that other civs are going through same process...or do you think that advanced civs just spring out of thin air ?

It pisses on Fermi's paradox by a very basic believable concept. But that's just one reason why Fermi is crap. I wont go into "pseudo-scientific" concepts...cos you're obviously too scientific for that.

OK FIRST OF ALL

We still have not explored the depths of our OCEANS and discovered all species of life on this planet...

WE ARE IN NO POSITION

to even say anything about life in the universe..

It is stupid, and ignorant like saying the world is flat and believing it for centuries...

You are projecting the idea that other civs are developing based on the evidence that we have a civ. The OP is saying that all of the evidence when currently weighed says that those conclusions are false so far. Instead of accepting that you merely throw out what if scenarios with no evidence to support you personal longing for life to exist outside earth.

Ok so your idea now says that the life is there but we were the first ones to develop the ability to detect life. Other civilizations are cavemen waiting to be discovered. So for the according to science 8 billion or so years up to earths creation nothing else developed beyond our own capabilities for us to try to detect? I don't think you really got around Fermi's paradox as much as you think.

hey man...don't knock the scientists...they have "facts of life in the universe". Facts man. Faaacts !!!!!

I think it's worth reminding people that no one is saying there is no other life in the Galaxy / Universe , what they are saying is intelligent life with the capability to achieve radio communication is so rare as to be a fluke.

We will no doubt find life at some point but we probably won't be able to talk to it , but then again maybe we will.
