Just because someone has a high IQ doesn't mean they're "smart". People, back 2,000 years ago, knew more about the universe, than most of today's civilization.

You mean like how the sun revolved around the earth? Also how the earth was flat and you would fall off if you got too close to the edge? People like the Maya and the Egyptians were very good on keeping track of celestial events but they didn't know more about the universe than we do today.

Hmmm, looks like a cheap internet meme made by some teenager. I can't say I disagree with the part about theology and metaphysics, but philosophy is (or should be) based on logic. So in the case of philosophy, it would be like searching the room in a very methodical way, finding the cat, and then trying to determine it's function and place in the world.

In the case of modern popular science, it would be like searching the room, finding the cat, dissecting it and re-classifying it as another species, and then extrapolating from urine samples that "God" doesn't exist (the message brought to us by an endearing popular caricature, of course).
