On Drudge:

Capitol Police are investigating a man identifying himself as an “Oathkeeper” and an “American Patriot who has everything to lose” who has threatened to arrest Sen. Debbie Stabenow for treason because of her support for the Iran nuclear deal.

Jon Ritzheimer, the Arizona resident who reportedly attracted FBI attention when he organized an anti-Muslim protest rally and “draw Muhammad” cartoon contest at a Phoenix mosque, shared his plan to organize with fellow U.S. Marines in an open letter posted online Monday.

“We are planning on arresting Senator Debbie Stabenow, who voted yes to the Iran Nuke Deal. She will be arrested for treason under Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution,” states the letter. “We have chosen her as our first target due to our strong ties with the Michigan State Militia and their lax gun laws that will allow us to operate in a manner necessary for an operation like this.”

Ritzheimer, 31, claims that after successfully detaining the Michigan Democrat, he and his armed militia “will continue to move across the country and arrest everyone involved with the Iran Nuke Deal” including the president.

So what does that section of the constitution say?

U.S. Constitution - Article 3 Section 3
Article 3 - The Judicial Branch
Section 3 - Treason

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

Anyone care to dispute that Iran is an enemy of the US?

So if the Iran deal does indeed constitute giving them aid and comfort- which many have argued it does because of the repercussions of lifting sanctions- then are these guys justified in their intent?

Problem is, as stated, only the Congress has the authority to declare the punishment of treason.

Someone pass the popcorn while we watch these guys get hauled off to prison- even if they may be justified in the action, though technically they don't have the authority.

Hahaha, wait what? Ehm.... Im the first one to roll my eyes when people cry "false flag" but seriously... Is this a joke?

"We are members of a militia, and we are using your lax gun control laws to arrest a public official."

Oh really, cause it sounds like you are trolling second amendment rights proponents, the kind you claim to be? I mean, no militia member I am aware of is against gun control, since militias aren't really militias without arms. Publicly stating you are using the second amendment-moreso "lax gun control laws" in a publicity stunt that is only going to attract the ire of every government legal agency in the country?

Sounds like a joke. I didnt read the source, is it a spoof?

lol. I thought it was a joke too. But it's front, top and center in RED on Drudge.

You read that last paragraph? they are going to go around the country and end up arresting Obama too? How much popcorn you got?

It's too absurd to be real. Next is:

"Breaking News: High school student (who eerily looks like he's in his 20s) released a letter proclaiming he will travel to each school armed with weapons he procured from sales at gun shows with fake ID."

"He says he needs to teach your kids how they will die from living in states with lax gun laws"

I kid I kid. Whether or not you are pro/anti gun control you have to admit this looks cartoonish.

Anyone care to dispute that Iran is an enemy of the US?

When did they attack America just because they don't kiss our ass that makes them an enemy? Some could say that the attack on our embassy makes them an enemy but let's not forget we staged an overthrow of their government and installed a dictator. Right now they are aiding America with it's fight with ISIS which is more than can be said of our other "allies" in the region.

So if the Iran deal does indeed constitute giving them aid and comfort- which many have argued it does because of the repercussions of lifting sanctions- then are these guys justified in their intent?

No it doesn't fit in with giving them aid and comfort in fact placing sanctions against them could be considered an act of war.

To be honest I am a little more concerned with the bigger picture of this, and the potential now (with it gaining wide exposure from being on Drudge)- that other groups may decide to back this action and participate. And I guarantee you I am not the only one anticipating a development like this. It's potentially pretty dangerous. And a lot of people could get hurt or killed if they actually try to go through with it.

It does seem cartoonish. Why would Drudge, a terrible source in and of itself, link to a story on a blog site without checking for some sort of corroboration?

this makes me wonder if 'Militia Organizer' has no assets to worry about losing once charged/tried in court for unlawful arrest, threats, damages and the likes by Deb's counsel!

I hear ya, but isn't Russia in there right now with boots on the ground?

While many of us may not consider the Iranian people our enemies, there are few Iranians who don't consider us enemies- or at least- that is my impression. I could be wrong. There is no question in hell though that the government and religious leaders of Iran are hellbent on our destruction. I don't think that fact can be disputed.

Ritzheimer stated he has notified law enforcement about his intentions, and plans to cooperate with them “and try to keep this as smooth as possible so we don’t have another ‘Shot Heard Round The World’ situation.”

Well this *must* be serious then.

Why wouldn't this be real that they are talking about this?

The guy is nuts IMO and this doesn't sound that far off for him to say.

Now as far as them actually acting on it, that I don't think is as likely./

Hmmmmm.... I am looking for some back history on this guy. Looking for something older to see if this guy has any "agent provocateur" history or is just a loudmouth nut. Also note, he tried one of those Go Fund Me campaigns to raise 10 million dollars for himself "to protect his family". Nice way to cash in if it had worked (bet he is pissed that he didn't get that 10 million bucks!) Scam Artist, Agent Provocateur, or Idiot.....

Let's find out.

Best one so far is from Loon Watch:

Atheist Jon Ritzheimer Organizes Armed Biker Gang To Terrorize Arizona Mosque

A guy named Jon Ritzheimer and an armed biker gang want to let Muslims know how much they hate them and their religion by demonstrating for “free speech” in front of the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix.

This is a provocation and the leadership of the mosque have rejected the bait, with Usama Shami saying, “Everybody has a right to be a bigot. Everybody has a right to be a racist. Everybody has a right to be an idiot.”

Shami of course is right, these “protesters” aren’t bright, but I do think Muslims in the Phoenix area should be cautious and take advantage of the 2nd amendment by arming themselves for self-defense. Biker Gangs are trigger happy and extremely violent organizations, have people forgotten what happened in Texas?

Isn’t it the height of irony, a biker gang (not exactly known for pacifism) wants to demonstrate against Muslims and Islam for being violent?

Lol.... you think these clowns are justified? He quotes the Constitution and then threatens to arrest a politician. As you've pointed out, only Congress can make such a claim, not some wanna be vigilante!

So you want anyone who supports the Iran deal to be arrested for treason because we give them aid and comfort? Well, if that's the case you should know we've been giving Iran foreign aid for quite some time so by your logic we should have been arresting politicians, both Republican and Democrat?

Where was the outrage then? There wasn't any and that's because loud mouths like this guy don't know much about anything and only parrot nonsense they saw on Fox News, heard from Rush or worse Beck.

Men Of Weak Constitution

"For so sworn, good or evil, an oath may not be broken, and it shall pursue oathkeeper and oathbreaker to the world's end." -- J.R.R. Tolkien

On his Facebook page, Jon Ritzheimer has said he "will forever be a Patriot and an Oath Keeper". If his oath is to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, he would do well to read, understand and respect all of it, not just take the parts he wants out of context to support a decidedly unconstitutional agenda.

As it turns out, the Constitution not only defines treason in a manner which does not agree with Mr. Ritzheimer's specious interpretation, it also prescribes a system of government based on the delegation of powers by the people. Those who swear to support and defend the Constitution swear to uphold all of it, including the government established by it.

Should Mr. Ritzheimer follow through with his threats and attempt or conspire to "arrest" Senator Stabenow or anyone else, he and any accomplices involved would be guilty of crimes that could result in life imprisonment.

If he wishes to stage non-violent protests, wave Confederate flags and post videos of himself shooting Qurans with an AR-15, he is free to do so. However, threatening to kidnap anyone, including U.S. senators, is not protected speech and, depending on the nature of the threat, may be a crime in itself.

Most ironically, in claiming constitutional authority to commit such crimes, Mr. Ritzheimer puts himself in direct opposition of those who do, in fact, honor their oaths to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Thankfully, the vast majority can be counted on to do their duty in defending it against those who seek to usurp its authority.

I suggest Mr. Ritzheimer -- and anyone else who unlawfully presumes to speak or act on behalf of the people of the United States -- honor their oaths, study more, and threaten less.

Utter nonsense from "Oathkeepers" and Drudge? Color me unsurprised. I do hope they try though, as it will almost surely be hilarious.

SMVM Media - I am with the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia (SMVM), one of the oldest active militias in Michigan. For the past 21 years (from the days of Norm Olson) we have publicly met and held training events each and every month...... we work and communicate with many Militia's of Michigan..... the III%'s, Michigan Home Guard, Black Creek Volunteers, West Michigan Sentinel's, Southwest Michigan Volunteer Militia (SWMVM), Michigan Militia Corps Wolverines (MMCW), Genesee County Volunteer Militia (GCVM), Down River Militia (DVM), Superior Unorganized Michigan Militia (SUMM)....... These are all above ground and public militias.

We know of no militia in Michigan that is participating in these actions, also we do not appreciate armed out-of-state groups invading Michigan and throwing around the "Michigan Militia" name as participants.

I hope this guy is serious and tries it. Oathkeepers are a domestic terrorist group and deserve to be treated as such. Attempting to kidnap members of Congress and force them out of office at the point of a gun is the very definition of terrorism. We've tolerated them for far too long.

And you base this on what? The US chants about bombing Iran just as much as they chant about attacking us. In the end it's just rhetoric on both sides and neither actually wants to attack the other.
