Martin Shkreli, 29
Founder, MSMB Capital
As an activist hedge fund manager specializing in healthcare stocks, torpedoed the proposed merger of Amag Pharmaceuticals and Allos Therapeutics by launching his own hostile bid. Antagonized Pfizer to remove former CEO William Steere from its board. His latest: founding a biotech focused on rare diseases.

This smug, greedy POS is exactly what is wrong with the world today and is the personification of what I hate in humanity. His attitude while answering these questions shows you a psychopath in action. If I believed in a hell I'd say this guy was either spawned from it or will soon be taking up residence there and for obvious good reason. He is the kind of person that deserves to have a body riddled with disease and suffering with the cure kept just out of reach.
Philosophically speaking my judgements of him probably sound harsh and I'd agree they are and I've even toned them down from what I really think of him. Yet I'd still like to understand how it is that some could forgive behavior like his. If someone could explain to me how that is possible I'd like to have it reasonably explained how it's done. Because I don't think it's possible.

If you believe you can make money as a pharamceutical company giving away medicine, then by all means put up your own capital to do so.

That still wouldn't change the fact that he is deliberately making a profit off the suffering of others many of whom will simply die as a direct result of his uncontrollable greed and selfishness.
Do you have a photo of yourself to present? The pubic is responsible for the patent system that allows the pricing, and the public is responsible for Obamacare and other insurance systems that pay unlimited profits to big pharma. So, I blame you. Unless of course you want to present a link to a post where you are encouraging others to ignore or otherwise change IP laws. The community has had the chance to vote in a way that made sense, and they chose to vote against them self. Such is the consequences of a stupid and unthoughtful populace.

The names, photos and work address of the people responsible for these price increases, needs to be made public. Since government will do nothing, the "community" needs to be given a chance to determine the consequences of these individuals actions.

Can't relatively anyone knock off a generic? What's to stop another company for cranking out one at a lower price? Obviously not an area where I have much knowledge.
There is no way anyone can justify such a large increase.

Who the hell is going to buy this drug?
If it's a parasitic fighting drug it means that people who most likely will get infected aren't going to be rich snobby people. Maybe one or two people a year who can afford it might contract the parasite.
It's just like snake venom, not all hospitals have antidotes and if they do it's very expensive.
Luckily this isn't like snake bites or gasoline, hospitals have choices, patients have choices, and people are going to choose the cheaper choice in this case.
Socialized healthcare, my friend. WE are going to buy this drug for them... We're all swimming the seas of snip now, man. They'll do an income means test on anyone who requires these drugs, shake out what they can from the patient, then turn to the insurance carrier to cover the rest. The insurance will pass this on to those of us paying for our own coverage, resulting in a continuation of the 20-30%+ annual cost increases we've all been enjoying paying for since the ACA was passed.
Thanks, Obama!
Back when Martin Shkreli was CEO of Retrophin, he managed to grab a few headlines by buying an old rare-disease drug, Thiola, and raising the price 2000%. Now that he's on to his next company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, he's done himself one better, by buying another old drug and boosting the price 5000%.

That is how it was all planned out.
Hardly Socialism when profits are the top requirement.
Big Pharma said that government intervention via price controls and any other kind of intervention is not allowed.
They also made sure that medicare was not able to negotiate prices either.

Socialized losses, privatized profits depending on where you stand on the ladder... if you're on the lower portion, it's definitely providing a socialized benefit... if you're at the top, it's providing you a huge investment gain. If you're middle class to upper middle class, screw you, they'll just take money from you and grant you less benefit than you ever had under the prior system.
There's another S-word I'd rather call it, but our T&C policy prevents me from doing so.

If you live in another country with generic versions thanks to open competition, thanks to the TPP, Big Pharma is going to come rape you there as well and take away your generic versions.
