We all remember when Snowden leaked supposed documents claiming that aliens are working with the government. There are a few threads on ATS about this.

Well i came across this article and it stumped me.
Why would someone who is known as one of the biggest "credible" whistle blowers of all time, say this?

If the worlds governments were already working with ET, then clearly they would already know how to communicate with them. We wouldn't need to worry about "encryption" making the signals invisible to us, as he states in the linked article.

Shouldnt he know this already if he previously claimed the gov is in the sack with ET? It sort of cancels his claims..... Possibly even brings his credibility.
To fully understand what im going on about take a couple minutes for this read. You will get what im getting at in the first few sentances.

The guy refers to aliens being in a hypothetical situation and no where in the article does he state Aliens exist.

“So if you have an an alien civilization trying to listen for other civilizations,” he said, “or our civilization trying to listen for aliens, there’s only one small period in the development of their society when all their communication will be sent via the most primitive and most unprotected means.”

Snowden is blowing smoke, as they say. It means he has struck a deal with TPTB and is trying to make nice.

Stop and think about it: He is seemingly referring to potential contact by communications between planets. The exact old argument we've heard for decades except he is throwing encryption into it. Does that make sense? We and they are trying to communication with each other, and we use sophisticated encryption methods??????

We don't need Snowden seemingly backtracking on what he has alluded to in the past when he was a genuine maverick spy. Now he is trying to come in from the cold and mouthing what he has been told to say to get back into the good graces of the US government.

Perhaps you have the data files of his exact words or files. Most of us don't, but you avoid the point. IF he has alluded to ETs working with the US government, whether here or from far away, we sure as Hell are not going to start encrypting them now so much so that the other cannot understand a message sent to them. So he is covering his ass for a reason.

Snowden never said, or released anything that definitively points to communications with extraterrestrial beings.

The leaked NSA Sentry-Eagle documents make no mention of extraterrestrial beings.

The website you are referring to was trying to legitimize a book by Dan Sherman by implying there was a connection between Sentry-Eagle and the content of Sherman's book, merely because they both describe ELINT (covert intelligence-gathering by electronic means).

Nearly every country in the world has ELINT programs, about which we know very little. This means that we cannot say with confidence that the stuff in the exopolitics article is absolute bunk. It is, however, relative bunk.

You are not reading it wrong, the authors of the exopolitics article intended to deceive by implying a connection between the documents that is simply not there.

Hmm, took a little longer than Assange, but I knew he would get there.

So for the past several months, we've been hearing all kinds of Federal and Political mouths espousing the need to remove encryption as its "bad" and only "bad" people use it.

Now we have this "white knight" coming out and basically saying, 'If you want to find Aliens, your best bet is without encryption'.

Just another Government mouth after all.

Anything released from this man should be considered Controlled Disinformation or Controlled Information Release.

All he is really saying is that the methods SETI is using to discover alien communication may be much less effective due to encryption technology. However, there should be an increase in broadband, if you were focused in the general area of the source.

Lol insinuating Snowden did one thing or the other online is a tactic to make him appear less credible when he didn't do or say one thing or the other.

Seeing Snowden attacked with lies, gives his past assertions even more credibility in my book.

Knowingly lying on ATS is a banning offence.

This is perfectly logical. Remember the old day when tv signals were analog any you could turn your tuner to a station filled with snow (noise) on the screen. There were a few UHF transmitters in operation that would actually use a very small amplitude signal right before the video blanking signal of unused or undocumented stations to carry some data, a short pulse train then dead video information or hide it in the chroma channel of the signal. In any case anyone flipping through the channels would just see snow but if you had a decoder and knew which channel to look at, you could receive the bits, assemble the data stream over time and then unscramble/decrypt the payload.

Snowden, was just saying that we may not be able to find intelligent life once they move from simplistic communication methods to something capable of masking the activity which we can not easily discern, encryption offers a randomization of the data that can seem like just noise to anyone who does not know the methods employed.

He really had nothing to say that we wouldn't be able to surmise already.

I read the article earlier today, and he's just theorizing on one implication of encrypted data, it's relative obfuscation by random noise in an ETE detection scheme. It's just shop talk, same stuff we have here on ATS.

I wouldn't read much into it other than veiled tips for employing the same technique against terrestrial targets.

Publicity hungry Snowden, maybe he just realised that he's borderline unemployable now and is desperate for attention.
