Hey, I've got a few drawings I've done, two are incomplete but I don't ever have the time or always the motivation to continue, I typically do surreal work from my minds eyes, these however are portraits (though not very good)Unfortunately, I don't have more to show you as my x wife is refusing to give my art work back which contains work done all the way back to when I was twelve years old, nor will she give my born aboard birth certificate.(guess she has buyers remorse and is mad at me who knows) Without any more ado, let me know what you think thanks. Cheers ATS

Thank you very much, I always end up seeing the flaws so I stop or get frustrated and throw them away Einstein almost met that fate.

Don't because it's the only way to strife and battle against your own perfectionism. In time you will do better . Practising improves your quality.

Read some anatomical drawing books to learn more about muscles and shadows and lighting.. it will improve your skills

BTW I forgot exelent work, you're almost there ..

Nice work. I really the top one. Thanks for sharing.

That really bites your ex won't cooperate in giving you back your stuff. I've got a lifetime of art, some from high school and from my twenties all safely stashed away. I can only imagine how upset I would be to lose it and how you must feel.

One of my favorite pencil drawings I did a looong time ago got oil stains on it and that made me mad enough. If somebody had my stuff and wouldn't give it back, I may have to resort to burglary or something?

Don't give up on your unfinished work either. A few weeks ago I pulled out something I probably did 35 years ago and started working on it again. You never know when inspiration might strike?

Yea, she just wants leveraging power, it's really unfortunate because I'll write them off she can have them, she's expressed that she wants to get back together and I turned that down on the account that she cheated and left with another man, so im done with it and now we are not civil at all. Regardless, when drawing I get upset if it doesn't come out exactly as I see it, and it's a double edge sword in my past I've created really good work, but now have lost a lot of inspiration so I'm trying to find it again. Thank you for your kind words cheers.

That's what erasers are for

Yes but I do a lot of pen and pencil, and I don't want smudges and if the art isn't coming out how I want it to then I get even more frustrated. It's over protectionism, and really there are good erasers and you try to draw very lightly on the sketch and then begin bolder lines and shadow but still, I think now it becomes frustrating because I used to be so good and lost some of that talent over the years. Anyway thanks brother

She wouldn't give you your artwork back? What a b...
Honesty is quite important for me as well, I feel you.

Did you ever try oil-colours?

You've got the talent, the skills and a surreal mindset. Paint! Just for fun's sake and try some abstract work, it might get a bit messy but it's fun. I always see strange things in my abstract paintings, it's very amusing and even more funny when others see completely different things in them.

Anyway. Stay frosty and keep on with the good work!

If you don't own one, I suggest getting some of those battery-powered erasers. The erasers are about the size that you get in the ends of the good Pentel P205 mechanical pencils, but they have at least two different "grits" and allow nearly the complete erasure of most lines and blending that you do. Also, make sure that you are using good, thick paper, as the thinner the paper, the less you can erase without causing problems.

In college, my professor used to tell us that he would actually use sandpaper sometimes as an eraser. I've never gone that far, but maybe one day.

I'm mostly a charcoal guy myself, though. If you want to check out a couple of my drawings and stuff, here is a thread I put together a while back.

You'll get to where you want to be, just be patient, and don't be afraid of shading darker than you think you need to, as it keeps drawings from looking flat.

you know

Now I'm off to do manly red blooded American things, like drink beer and yell at the old lady to make me dinner, and go outside naked with only my boots on and shoot guns in the air within city limits. After all that I plan to retire to the master bathroom where I will hold onto the toilet for dear life while puking my brains out.
