Breaking: Active Shooter Delta State U Campus

Delta State has confirmed one fatality after an active shooter opened fire on its campus Monday afternoon. The school is currently on lockdown, Delta State tweeted.

Local paper Bolivar Commercial posted on Twitter that state troopers are placing shields on campus and that there is a second shooter rumored to be on campus. The Clarion-Ledger reports that the Cleveland Police Department confirmed one victim taken by ambulance. One confirmed suspect is still on the loose.

The Cleveland, Miss., school has approximately 3,300 students.

what the #.. please not another, all of this stuff is really starting to change me, i come from a very hard line perspective. My thoughts and love is with the students,faculty, and their family's. Society is breaking down before our eyes. What can i do or say to make a difference? or to be a useful activist juxtaposed to idiot. I hope this ends quickly.

People are snapping and this is getting out of hand. Not sure the cause or remedy, but people need to chill.

Hope the shooters are caught ASAP.

I am sick to death of hearing about stories like this.

May the force be with the innocent.

Nothing is going to change until America grows up on the issue of gun control.
The right to have a toy capable of killing people does not override the right for other people to live, work and study in safety.
Sticking your heads in the sand and blaming the hundreds of perpetrators while doing nothing about their tools of choice is lunacy.

Start a thread with your ideal ways to fix/stop these tragedies. Don't derail this breaking tragedy with the anti firearm talk.

Agreed, let the dust settle. However the horse cannot wear the blinders forever.

The university has about 4,000 students.
Cleveland is a city of just over 12,000 people. It's located 38 miles northeast of Greenville

I hope that all students and LEO are safe!

Right now they are saying that one professor has been shot and killed and that they shooter remains on the loose.

I am actually a bit shocked that nobody fired on the shooter. MS is very pro-carry and a lot exercise their right to do so there....I know I did when I lived in Jackson.

Blaming a tool is lunacy.....bad gun bad.....poor shooter just needed a hug right?

These things are going to continue happening until America starts valuing human life again. Taking away guns MAY stop shootings (although not all - the criminals will ALWAYS have guns no matter what the government tries to do to prevent that....good grief, the government is arming half of the world - including our enemies). But people killing other people will continue until you cure the heart.

The NRA is not nearly as bad a bogeyman as Hollywood and the gaming industry. To claim otherwise is as naive as H3LL

Carry on with the progressive gun rant, but until we start teaching our children that life is precious and must be respected, and that civilized people behave with compassion and intelligence, and providing them with decent role models, this world will stay terminally ill.
