You are about to embark on a small journey to witness the event from a perspective like no other.
History is full of Captains leading remarkable lives - and they are Captains for a reason - they are different, they are unique individuals and
command respect even by the very act of being in their presence.
You are about to witness 12 minutes of footage that most of you have never seen before, you are about to hear statistics that drive home the fact that
500,000 folks were evacuated from the Island in 9 hours -- a totally unprepared-for event.
The US Coast Guard - and more precisely, the call they made that morning, is now part of history and this is as real as it gets........
I never new this occurred! This is truly an incredible story and shows how people come together to help each other in the middle of a crisis. It's
definitely a story that needs to be told.
I remember all the friends we had that were emergency personnel, firefighters, nurses etc from around here who made the trip to New York that day.
People from all across the USA came together and dedicated their time and expertise and love to help on that tragic day. Kudos to all involved!
It's interesting I knew there was boat evacuations that day but just not at that scope, largest land to sea evacuation in history almost 500,000 in
less than 9 hours, thats a lot of boats.
