oh man...I just red that link...

I had the actual book as assigned reading in college. This was back when we still had troops on the ground there, and I was sitting in class with vets attending on the GI Bill. Made for some interesting discussions.

Amazing how just seeing the book cover brings back a flood of memories.

Mad? Sure does make me mad. But it's a lost cause to get upset about it. No matter which way we vote, it's always the same rhetoric; never any real change or progress. So, yeah, it does make me mad, but I'm not losing any sleep over it either.

Kinda shows me the gov't wants to look stupid while pursing a nefarious agenda. How many times has this played out? Gov't is well aware of the negative consequences and decides to completely ignore it. From ignoring the 9/11 warnings of an imminent attack, to the Iraqi invasion, arming "moderate" rebels in Syria, bombing the hell out of Libya, and so on... The obvious consequences are there for anyone to see so surely military/gov't knows full well too.

But they always just do it anyway.

They aren't stupid, they're playing stupid.

My misinterpretation, then, but you can probably see how I made that connection:

My bad. When I said we are a species of butchers and brainless retards..I meant we as species...not individual people that go to war. Sometimes...going to war is a must...but most times...it isn't.

I get you...but shouldn't we be losing sleep over it ? Isn't state of world affairs just the way it is..because we aren't losing any sleep over it ? We have been so desensitized about crimes against the people, and it gets me so mad when I see people say.."oh we knew that already...it's boring...you know...so what..."

Aren't you aware the magnitude of possible crimes being committed with this kind of policies...like in the OP ?

I feel that we are simply too indifferent about it.

I support these guys coming out...at least they did something about it. At least they shouted..."hey...this isn't right".

I get the real feeling of Deja Vu when you posted the link.

All this has been happening repeatedly...for a century at least. And we the people...are none the wiser about it. We still let ourselves be duped by cheap political theatrics.

agreed.

One thing does puzzle me though...why are we paying someone to play stupid ? Why do then have plethora of spy agencies, various security protocols, multitude of men/women employed to spy, to snoop, to gather data, intel...phone conversations. Billions of dollars of US budget goes to these agencies. They assign enormous budgets for these people to play a game of stupid ? Is it all for a stupid show to make a sheep out of you ? Isn't that a conspiracy in itself ?

Why do we stand for it ?

The 2003 Iraq WMD intel was cooked to the say there were NO WMDs. Those now being used by Syria. It was either that or the convoluted path and eventual no-win end-game of thermo-nuke war with Russia. It was 11 RUSSIA trucks watched by US birds in 2003 taking out the RUSSIAN WMDs into Syria. The books were cooked to make US intel appear stupid and wrong to avoid WWIII. The press and Bush haters sucked it up with extra sauce. All useful idiots in the war game with Russia. Thank you press and Bush haters.

Where do you get this info from? Why and more importantly, how would Assad get his hands on Iraqi WMD's? Russians doing his dirty work? Really??? Why wouldn't they just give them theirs instead of taking Saddam's while the US is invading Iraq?

ISIS are former supporters of Saddam. The Syrian Ba'ath party was overthrown by Assad's father in a military coup....

Saddam was Ba'ath...as are what is left of his supporters... Making up, likely, the leadership of ISIS.

So how did Assad get the WMD's again?

Wasn't it already proven the chem weapons used in 2013 (I think it was then) were from ISIS/ rebels?

This kind of info drop demands scrutiny. Here is where you slipped up big time in my opinion:

The books were cooked to make US intel appear stupid and wrong to avoid WWIII

To make this more believable you should have said "postpone" not avoid. It implies US avoided world war three because no one wins, yet at the same time prepared for such a war by pretending they didn't have the Intel on Russia supplying WMDs in order to gain some kind of tactical advantage leading up to world war three.... Sorry, but I have a hard time believing you're anything but an extremely creative russophobe.

Unfortunately this is not new and not confined to this instance.

There is a narrative to maintain anytime you cross over into Indian Territory when working for the US Government. You were sent there with a goal. You will achieve that goal. That it what you will report regardless if it is true or not. All the feedback from the field will fit nicely into the narrative at the top.

You can charge windmills as long as you want. You call it like you see it all day long. Stick to your guns. Just don't expect support or that next stellar assignment. So what are the weak willed to do?

My guess is these guys in the story might be near the end of their career and not have much to lose. Hopefully doing one last solid for the folks in the field.

Wasn't Al-Qaeda found to be merely a concoction of the US based on a server with that nickname? What makes people think ISIS is any more real?
