Hanger bay in the sky.

I've seen some strange things while in the navy, but the strangest had to be while I was in roving patrol going around my max security unit. It was around 11 pm one night I was smoking a cigarette when I looked up I seen a big rectangle lite up that looked just like a hanger bay door opened on the flight line at night from about a mile away. Now I've seen and been around aircraft most of my life and I know what an aircraft hanger looks like especially at night but how in the hell was in the sky I stopped in the middle of the road and watched for about 5 minutes, nothing came in or went out and you could see clear sky all around the open bay. Then gradually just like a hanger door it closed but not like 2 doors coming together but one door sliding right to left the it was clear and you could see the stars just like nothing was their. And the answers are no never touched any hard drugs so I know it's not flash backs.

So I'm just checking to see the theories out there thnx.

I have had something similar happen, although I too was in a car and it closed shut before I could get out and take a look at it better. I have never been able to explain it as it was early morning but the sun was already coming up and there were no other vehicles on the road.

I would have have got a pic from my phone but while on we are not allowed any recording devices video or audio but they have three cameras outside of ad segregation but they keep them pointed at the front gate so they know when the warden is coming in. Haha. a reply to: QuietSpeech

Perhaps no sky carrier. But if you're looking out over water, there could have been an actual carrier at sea combined with thermal inversion. Basically it's a mirage somewhere in the sky that lets you see stuff which is down below but over the horizon.



Coldn't find anything really close to what you've seen, but here's how a city skyline can distort from a long distance via the superior mirage phenomena.

Im in Abilene tx by a max prison. Surrounded by ag fields and cattle but never hear of any thing from the ranchers.a reply to: pauljs75

That is a cool "mirage", particularly because I'm spending the next week in Michigan.

However what I saw was more like a brilliant spotlight that was not rounded but squarish that appeared in the open sky as the sun was coming up. It then appeared as if someone pulled two slider doors shut and it winked out of sight.

That's exactly how the doors were closing on the one I saw. a reply to: QuietSpeech

Interesting story, thanks for sharing. I wouldn't be too surprised if we had something like that floating around up there somewhere. I've seen things that looked pretty unconventional in the night sky on a few occasions.
