In a Western nation, say the UK, there would be an Public inquiry (eventually....) followed by arrests, convictions and compensation to those affected...

Egypt could do well to learn from that way of thinking - it appeases the public, provides recourse to the victims and at the end of the day, an education system that is seen to function properly and fairly will only benefit the country in the long run. Who knows how many "doctors" they have that flunked their exams only to cheat and get straight A's in order to get into Medical school...

Oh absolutely. It's better for the nation and the people. Maybe less so for the corrupt people though. Power and money are usually not willingly given up.

Can someone please explain why, if the claims are true, they would do this to her? I see initially it was claimed it was because she was Christian, but that has been acknowledged by both sides now as not being the reason.

So with that being decided, why has this happened?

Corrupt officials? Who has paid them to score her work at zero and why?

The Ministry of Education needs to release the papers in question for independent review. You'd think, amid cries of corruption, they'd be keen to do this to put the matter to rest on all sides. They've said the handwriting is a match, so what's the problem? They've nothing to worry about, do they? If they're not willing to resolve the issue, they need a clear out and should be proof of corruption. They should review all high scoring papers and find out whose papers do not belong. I do not believe there isn't a trail to follow.

The little matter of the fact that this girl is a Coptic Christian in a 90% Muslim country may play more a part than reported.
I hope justice prevails for all those cheated..

So being a Coptic Christian is the reason this has happened?

Yet both sides now agree that this isn't the case. The family must be under pressure from someone to deny this is the reason, but how much pressure, if they have spoken out about this.

This all seems a bit strange imo.

Likely some politician or high up bureaucrat has a less than shall we say academic son/daughter.
So they paid a freind on a exam board to swap papers.

That raises an interesting point. These doctors export across the globe. How many faux doctors are floating around because of this? It would help explain some of the nefarious practices being implemented across the globe. Some of the corners that are being cut, for monetary value, that are apparently, isolated, bad apple scenarios. Perhaps a bit presumptuous, but makes you wonder.

If its like the UK most country's force foreign doctors to undergo a few tests to double check competence before they are granted a licence to practice here.

It's possible one or two may slip through the cracks but it would be hard.

It seems the most likely scenario is that her paper was swapped with someone else's. That's the prevailing theory.

She shouldn't worry.
If she's that intelligent she doesn't really need brainwashing, I mean college.

A few weeks watching surgery videos on YouTube and she could do whatever she wants.

The war between students and their teachers who want to 'put a dent in their future' are immortalized by movies like Risky Business, The Breakfast Club and Ferris Buhler's Day Off. Who didn't know a teacher or Admin official that didn't make life miserable for kids struggling to come to terms with society, education and themselves?

Shooot, we had a elementary school principle that loved to paddle and sexually molest little boys in his office. What a friggin nightmare he imposed on young minds.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. But, they must be paying the right people to 'find' these grades. Doesn't seem too much of a stretch to pay for fast-tracking too. If the corruption is as common as the thread implies, I reckon it deserves a thought. And with the government crying out for medical staff, I would not be surprised to find vetting procedures less stringent than they appear to be. Just speculation, of course, but I wouldn't put it past 'em.

They obviously have someone in there exam board brought and paid for. As this seems to have gone public he or she are likely sweating now as they will likely get hung out to dry as a scapegoat.

As for doctors here? Na I know a few, one from Japan and he was quite adimate the test for foreign doctors was brutal! Which is high praise comeing from a jap! And my old jobs in pharma R&D involved working alongside plenty of eastern European doctors who washed out on the test and couldn't go into UK practice.
Some will slip through as no test is perfect, but it still a good filter.

There are a few promising places in Europe. A few.

Iceland. I would love to live there. Encouraging social change as well as the built-in nostalgia of being the setting for one of my favorite childhood stories, Verne's Journey To The Center Of The Earth

corruption in the US outweigh corruption almost anywhere else.

the sort of corruption that lies in secrecy will always be worst than the overt corruption.

Ahh dont you just love how SEXISM works? SHe was seen as a uppity woman and as such got slapped down by th emale controlled system. They want their women at home making babies and fixing sandwhiches for their husband who has 6 other wives. I swear. Let the girl come to america with a full ride to med school if she can keep her grades up.

Handwriting analysis is bunk these days especially when you can learn to write another style with practice.

New Zealand
Norway
Australia

For starters all are less corrupt, provide more freedom and have higher standards of living to the USA.

Still the US is better than 90% of the rest of the world. But dont kid yourself.

Been to all and I have no desire to live in any of them. What kind of gets me is everyone wants to compare a place with a population of just one state or even one big city and say it is better place to live than the US.

One thing the US provides is a vast diversity of places to live that these other places do not have, so go out and find your New Zealand Norway Australia Sweden right here... I said it before, places like Ferguson might as well be on the moon compared to where I live in the US.

Another part to these countries and many others that people deem great places to live is the populations there live very frugal to a point it is their nature, and even being frugal you better get a really decent paying job...

Now if you like your 3000+ sqft house with a front and back yard or even some land attached, two cars and not the size of mini coopers, every fruit and veg available year round, places like Costco or even having large selections of choice when shopping, nice big fat steak, gas not 7 dollars a gallon, boat maybe...etc plus about 50 other things that would drastically change go and enjoy your new and "better" country...
