He wasn't jailed? Unlawful discharge of a firearm, wrecklessly endangering a person, conspiring to pervert the course of justice, defrauding US government, filing falsified police reports.

I don't think they've said whether or not he is custody. I could be wrong. I'm sure they're not taking this lightly, seeing the amount of resources that were used. Something tells me we're not going to hear much of anything from this point.

Police getting popped while pumping gas or just sitting in their cruiser is horrible and there is very little one can do to defend against those actions.. Plus police are reps of the government so besides the loss of life it has to be a big deal and a show of support anytime one is killed.

I did a thread a couple of years ago that said their job was statistically about as dangerous (per 100,000) as gardeners..

Regardless, I would not want to be a police officer simple because if I were unlucky to get into a bad department full of corruption and bully boys I would end up being shot or beat by one of my own department guys.. Frank Serpico, anyone ?

That's the real power of mass media. It can make any issue seem horrific or insignificant strictly by how much they cover it. And most people get caught up in the hype without taking a step back to review the facts.

EDIT: Don't forget the crazy hype & fear mongering about Ebola in America just last year. Even though the flu, heart disease & cancer are the things they should actually be worried about.
