That's what people don't seem to realize. It wouldn't come down to citizenry against the military. A more likely scenario would be citizenry + military against DHS & foreign troops. Sure the average citizen wouldn't know how to efficiently deal with some of the toys DHS has. But I've no doubt vets do and would gladly share that knowledge given a situation like that.

SO true. WHy do people always assume the Army or military will side against the people I will never know. Loss of paycheck? IF things go the right way they would get a raise after a corrupt government was toppled.

They already did that in the supposedly imaginary 13th amendment I think, by not allowing anyone who carried a title of royalty to serve in public office.

The one the british came back to burn in 1812.

And here we are with esquires running our country.

Once you start trying to amend it....you open the door to destroying it.

Once you re-write the constitution it just becomes a piece of paper.

And if ever redone it would be in a biased form of a political members/party, and NOT in the words of our founding fathers.

Plus we have amendments.

I do commend your effort and time

This county's government's recognizing and following the constitution for a limit on what they can do as far as infringing on the liberties and rights of the citizenry has been dwindling for many years.

Some day people, citizens, must stand up together and demand they observe their contractual obligation which is the constitution.

The dumbing down of america has pretty much made getting together, agreeing on anything important and forcing change becoming more unlikely every single day.

We Be Screwed I Think.

Now that I could get behind. Dibs on an Abrams M1, a gross of Tomahawks, and a Ma Deuce with, oh let's say 600,000 rounds to start with.

If you need more than a sentence to describe something, then you're not describing it very well. The longer you make it, the more loopholes you inevitably create, which is one of the big problems we have in the laws today. Gone are the days of a 2 page bill like Glass Steagal and instead the replacement is a 2500 page law subject to many interpretations.

I have a better idea, let don't! To change the U.S. Constitution would a Constitutional convention. Do you really want to risk that kind of a screwup with the current leadership in power.

Yeah, why don't you ask some of the Army/Marine veterans back from Afghanistan/Iraq how much laughing they did?

Hold a seance and ask Royal Army soldiers in Nepal and India how much laughing they did?

Vietnam?

The American West during the Indian Wars?

Those were all insurgent wars, or Guerrilla wars if you prefer. Oh, those soldiers and marines comin' over the hill in that tank won't be laughing.

Why do people insist on saying things like this, it's patently not true. Oh, the "evil gubbmint" might win, but do you really think it'd be as easy as all that? I sure as hell don't. History tells us that, time and time again.

I wish the NEW 2nd Amendment to have a "SAME AS CURRENT ARMS" clause so WE can be as well armed as the military with our personal rifles,in order to maintain parity.
SO you want to mess with the 2nd huh?
WE get to play too.

I like that "same as" clause. Yeppers, like it indeed.

...and the kickass training that goes with it, of course.

Do you suppose aircraft carriers have a layaway?

A 2009 report said that the Ford would cost $14 billion including research and development, and the actual cost of the carrier itself would be $9 billion. The daily operating cost of a carrier strike group is estimated at $6.5 million.

Source

Of course at 6.5 million a day to operate - you'd probably have to pinch some pennies.

" where that person or entity is
not legally imprisoned or is not barred
from possession of arms by a lawful court
order due to a felony conviction by a jury
of their peers."

So half your population won't qualify
for machineguns ?
.... Cool

Actually MANY wouldn't qualify as they would be TOO impaired to disassemble/ reassemble their rifle after sufficent training.
Perhaps some legal allowances in the appropriate cases could apply.
Yes folks, FULLY auto, suppressed WHAT EVER you want...if you can quailfy with it.

The only thing i see that needs to be changed, is, switching the second amendment to the first, so that the first, being the freshly switched second, can protect the rest of the Constitution.

Shoot first and talk about it later. That should end all the Horse#

Oh and add a few more words after, Shall Not Infringe. or face a Firing Squad for Treason

I put the following in there:

" where that person or entity is
not legally imprisoned or is not barred
from possession of arms by a lawful court
order due to a felony conviction by a jury
of their peers."

so that it's a JURY not a judge who convicts a felon.
That means WE THE PEOPLE will decide that yes
a person MAY be insane, villianous, etc. or is
otherwise not a nutcase in terms of owning arms

I also put in the:

"Any such legal bar against
possession of arms is rendered null and
void upon the completion and fulfilment
of any lawfully ordered court sentence
and after any court-ordered
probationary period."

Because once a sentence is done,
you is good to go in America and you
DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE for being
a good citizen and yup even getting
to owning firearms and voting again!

...

On a technical note this will all be MOOT
once personal defense shield technology
which uses powerful battery systems to
emit field-effects which can actually
PREVENT intrusion into one's personal
space by both bullets and brawn.

The amount of research being done
around the world is FINALLY bearing
some fruit and YES WE WILL within
a few years HAVE Star Trek like
personal shielding technology!

And the more power/energy can be
supplied, the greater and MORE POWERFUL
the field-effects can be in repulsing
everything from a fist to an entire mountain!

E=MC^2 is the equation that facilitates this
new shielding technology which has been
studied since the 1960's and only recently
become viable!
