is actually a toad with a big appetite.

www.grindtv.com...

A park ranger in a remote Peruvian forest recently encountered a creature that appeared to be some sort of alien.

It was short and stumpy, with large purplish ears protruding from the sides of its mottled brown head. It’s tongue, also purplish, was long and pointy.

But upon close inspection the mysterious creature turned out to be a ground-dwelling cane toad, which somehow had just caught a bat.

Yufani Olaya, the ranger who was patrolling in Cerros de Amotape National Park, supplied the image to Rainforest Expeditions. The eco-adventure company posted the photo on its blog under the headline:

This is one strange picture, upon first glance it looks like there is no bat, just some very weird appendages attached.

I wonder if the frog thinks the bat taste just like chicken? Does this mean the toad has sonar-echolocation capabilities now?

I could clearly see the bat part and surmised the toad had a bat in its outh. Chalk it up to my insatiable search for Waldo all those years ago.

Well when you can't find a buffet for a toads... I guess bats will have to do.

That is creepy. The way the bats wings line up with the eyes and how the tail looks like a tongue. First glance is not a bat being eaten, but it is discernible after a moment of observation. Still, very creepy indeed.
