I have just finished watching all 5 seasons of this fantastic show in a little over 1 month.

For those that have not seen the show I would strongly recommend you give it a go.
The story is about a father, Walter, who loses his son to an illness and then goes to an alternate universe to "kidnap" the son of his "doppelgänger to help save him, and also replace his own son.
However, tearing into a parallel universe has massive repercussions and causes all sorts of irregularities within the parallel universe and his own, think X Files with cool science, and to get a handle on the events the FBI have a semi-secret division called Fringe.
Walter has a very excentric attitude and sheer genius aided by his love for Weed and '___' which, at times, is very, very funny.
Then there is Olivier, she is the Fringe Agent and during her youth she was subject to Walter's experiments with a mind altering drug to give her "sixth sense, tele-kinetic type powers and also the ability to pass into the other universe with no repercussions.

That is just a little taster, there is a lot more and the characters are very well played and mixed.

What gripped me was the science behind the show which includes getting into the mind of the recently deceased.

What I am looking for is another show similar to Fringe with the gripping story lines, great characters and science that is believable. Ok, some of it can really stretch the mind.

So, reccommended me something.

Amazon prime has Under the dome right now, was rewatching it last night, and the strain is good as well, have not heard of the others but will look em up. If you are down for fun older shows Dresden Files is a good one. Finge was awesome though.

yeah. Fringe was great.

I think it tapered off after a few seasons in.

But John Noble is such a great actor and spectacular in that role.

It's not a science based show. But I did watch Daredevil which had Vincent D'Nofrio in it. He always the great crazy guy.

I was watching some of Stitchers on ABC family. It had a bit of science in there. Where they would go into the memories of the recently deceased to solve murders. But I couldn't get into it.

I wouldn't suggest "The Dome"--my wife and I are watching it and keeping up with it, but it's writing is a bit lackluster and the acting is similarly mediocre. It's one of those things, though, that we know if has to end soon, so we're sticking with it until the end of this season. I have a friend who read the book and says that it is very, very different than the book, so if you've read it, avoid the show.

Mr. Robot is a show currently airing on USA which does a solid and unlike almost every other show accurate job of portraying the H-P-V-C world . Interesting story line , good acting, something unqiue..

I loved the first few seasons of Fringe , much like the first few seasons of Lost.. After that it jumped the shark a bit for me but that is okay..it's hard to be Breaking Bad or be consistantly good for that many seasons.. Which brings me to another show you watch..

Breaking Bad..You said you want gripping story lines, great characters and science that is believable well BB has all of that plus more..

Another show that I find to be really enjoyable is Orphan Black..The main character on it does an amazing job playing many roles...

I am disappointed in myself because I watched maybe 5 episodes of Fringe and just could not get into it. This show fits everything I look for to. Might need to sit down and re-invest my time into it.

X-Files would be similar.
Under The Dome I have enjoyed a lot as well.
Revolution is one of my favorites.

This isn't entirely similar but if you haven't watched Battlestar Galactica then you need to. At least top 5 of all time and probably could be an argument for #1 on my list of shows.

Give 'Wayward Pines' a try. It's nowhere along the lines as Fringe but it has a decent cast and it has you wondering wtf is going on in Wayward Pines. It only takes about four episodes to let you figure out whats so special about the place.

Another one would be HBO's 'The Leftovers'. These kind of shows keep me wanting to see the next episode hoping it help explains the prior one.

One of my all time favorite shows was Kyle XY. It was cancelled prematurely, IMO.

I liked the first couple seasons of Fringe and the last season. The other 2 were unsatisfying,

I like Defiance, Under the Dome, and Orphan Black. THE 100 is also good.

I am now recording The Whispers. My fingers crossed.

The Tick.

I could not possibly agree more. Best cartoon ever. Well, maybe it ties with Futurama.
I'm also gonna agree with the "Mr. Robot" recommendation.
I've quite enjoyed "Helix".

Mr.Robot is a very good show, I watched the first couple of episodes, and I will get back to it, it is quite a deep show especially with what goes on in his head.

Breaking Bad is another gem that I have had the pleasure of watching. The end is certainly been left open despite what happened to 'Hiesenburg' at the end.

If you can I would recommend you give Fringe another go. It can take a few episodes to get into but worth the time.

I have been toying with the idea of watching Wayward Pines. I caught an episode and it did look good, maybe I will give that a go.
Is there a separate series that links into Wayward Pines too? Like a spin off. I'm sure I saw an advertisement for a show that's linked into it, maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks for the Youtube links too.

fringe is awesome, ive seen those other 3^ also, and those three suck in my opinion, poor writing, bad acting, more like cheap soap operas then anything,

Ohh a fun one that I really liked was the 4400, that show was made of weird. Not really a sciencey show but always had the WTF factor on high.

I'm pretty sure you just gave away some season 3 or so spoilers in the OP when talking about the origins of Walter's son. Cool show though. I came in to recommend the X-Files, but you appear to already have that base covered.

I don't think it ties into any other show at least not that I've heard.

Maybe you're thinking about the 'Twin Peaks' reunion show they're bringing out soon?
