Oh posh posh wish wash. That's no fun and to be honest it is kinda evil sounding. When you put like that it it doesn't make me want to agree with you.

Making the right choices and acting responsibly has a tendency to be 'no fun.'

Kinda conflicting i think. Why would the feelings of already legal immigrants have any bearing the decision to improve the life of other immigrants?

Here is a thought exercise(be careful republicans) think of things as they are now, but almost everyone is legally here. It not that different!

And outright morally wrong it seems. Also, your opinion isn't what's "right". I don't think you understand what some words mean.

Whats wrong with making them go to the back of the line, making them pay a fine, biometrics and background check fees, and application fees?

If they're coming here illegally, more often than not they don't have any money to pay these things. So who winds up paying for it? The same people who are already suffering the burden of these illegal immigrants: the taxpaying citizens.

I say anyone that is willing to risk their life to get here deserves a chance.

What about our veterans? They risk their lives to preserve or way of life, yet they come back and, quite often, wind up in deplorable situations. Instead of spending taxpayer money on those who have not found a thing but burden this country, why don't we spend a little on those who have given more than their share for it?

Hyperbole is a pretty broad street.

i,m sorry but i know immigrants are trying to get into Britain for our nhs and our easy to get benefits system.

i hate the tories but if cameron brings in the law that you can,t claim no benefits unless you,ve lived in this country for 4 years and have to pass a british test then he goes up in my estimation.

pretty sure they won,t be as keen trying to get in as they have been.

If the left wanted to, they could just push for blanket amnesty.

The right would be forced to either openly oppose it, or to promote it also.

The left would gain a lot of mileage from it.

So why don't they?

Could it be that the left and the right want the illegal aliens to remain illegal aliens?

If so, you'd have to ask yourself, why.

Yes hyperbole is a very broad street, so much so that you have managed to change the conversation about Illegal immigrants into one about veteran's benefits issues that has absolutely nothing to do with the O.P.

USCIS, the department that processes immigration applications does not depend on government money or taxpayer's money. USCIS is funded by the application fees only.

Unlike most other federal agencies, USCIS is funded almost entirely by user fees. Under President George W. Bush's FY2008 budget request, direct congressional appropriations made about 1% of the USCIS budget and about 99% of the budget was funded through fees. The total USCIS FY2008 budget was projected to be $2.6 billion.

Let's do it! Round them up and give them citizenship! Way it won't be illegal anymore. And the ones that commit crimes will be arrested and I guess the right can put them in prison.

I also think that if we get them all in one place we could acknowledge their existence as human beings, instead of just statistics or ideas. You know, abstract titles like "anchor baby" and "border hopper" are not things that actually exist. You are literally referring to nothing when you say it.

All this hold up is meaningless. We could be improving the lives of people, instead they abandon towns in the darkness of night to run from us. And they still prefer that over their other country.

Where is the empathy?

The funny thing is Reagan (w/Bush Sr. as his Vice President) signed into law the "Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986". It gave roughly 3 million illegal immigrants full American citizenship.

As much as modern conservatives claim they love Reagan now, they would've hated him during his actual tenure. Dude wouldn't make it out of the Republican primaries if he proposed that program today (not to mention his record of raising taxes).

What about the hundreds, thousands, and more of people who have immigrated to the United States legally? The people who have given blood, sweat, tears, and years of their lives to become American citizens the legal way? Are you really that apt to just spit in their faces?

Let's round them up, sure. But send them back.

Why do you assume it would "spit in the faces" of those who came legally?

I doubt a Somalian immigrant who came to the US through our refugee program for Somalians is going to give a crap about this. I doubt that Sudanese "Lost Boys" refugees are going to be insulted by this proposal. And I doubt most of the recent Iraqi Arab Christians who came here for the same reason are going to be "insulted" that more people got to escape bad living conditions to become US citizens.

The corporate factories, agriculture, food processors, construction, service industries couldn't exist without cheap illegal labor.

That's why there will never be a mass deportation, nothing will be done about anchor babies, because the US economy is dependent on cheap undocumented labor.

The Right will whine and use illegals as a political talking point but nothing will be done by either party no matter what The Donald says. It's not up to him...it's a corporate, maximize the profit, thing.

In fact, nothing will be done about anything, by either the right or left. Except WAR, the Right Wing loves war.

Because they love to assume that immigrants have the same selfish and nativist mentality that they have.

Well according to a prominent Iowa conservative talk show host, the next best thing would be to turn them into slaves!

What's wrong with slavery?

It really gives an insight into the sick mentality that the party that loves to brand itself as the "pro-life" party has.

I was unaware that it was funded primarily by the fees. However, that doesn't answer the question of of these illegal immigrants are too poor to afford the fees in the first place, who pays for them? Most likely answer is still the American taxpayer. Or do you have a better answer?

And we're already footing over US$100B per year on illegal immigrants as is, most of it at the state and local level (where it hits our pockets a bit harder).

This report estimates the annual costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local level to be about $113 billion; nearly $29 billion at the federal level and $84 billion at the state and local level.

The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers (2013)

The executive summary also stated that this averages out to a bit more than $1,100 annually for taxpayers, though this number varies considerably throughout the country as it's depending on the local population of illegal immigrants.

At the point where they are all in one place is the perfect opportunity to implement compulsory RFID real-time tracking microchips to make the new citizens feel welcome and protected - like a personal touch. Once that phase of the roll out is complete then stage 2 roll-out can commence - chips to the entire citizenry.

After stage 1 and 2 are complete anyones heat signature who is picked up by a weaponized surveillance drone that does not have an associated RFID chip can be immediately terminated with extreme prejudice.

No more "illegal immigration" problem and all citizens are accounted for in the New World Order global database - US division.

I find the entire concept of labeling another human being "illegal" because they are on the wrong side of a river preposterous and disgusting.
Just my opinion.
