I don't know if i can label my self as an atheist. I can believe in something, But that does not make it true, Unless there is proof of what you believe to be true! If that makes since? so i do believe in my self, I do believe there is a soul, I just don't have proof! its funny most atheist say they don't believe in anything without proof! But they still have a belief in humanity, hope, love.etc! or at least i do! I think a little belief is healthy, As long as with anything, You don't take it to an extreme. Or use it as an excuse for evil intent, Like some, If not, All religions do! If i had my way, There would be no main stream religions! You could still believe in what you like. And store's would be open on Sunday. lol! and the Vatican library would be open to the public! also "public nudity" is legal. just joking

I think the term your looking for is agnostic. You can't say there is a Good but then again you can't say there isn't. This is a good equilibrium in my opinion and shows that one is open to new ideas from either side of the debate.

All atheist believe in god when it comes down to life or death situation.
Like being in a foxhole in war, you learn quick to believe.

Pascals wager...and if you're suddenly believing "to cover your butt" then it isn't really believing is it.

"There are no atheists in foxholes" is a cliche - trotting out as if it wee evidence is about what I expect from a religious nutjob who can' fae up to the lack of actual evidence for his/her fairy/elf/dragon/old man

Get back to me if and when you get into a situation. (god forbid)

How dare you call me a "Nutjob" Because I have what you lack, it's called faith. I don't push religion on anybody and no one should either.
I have beliefs that makes me a "nutjob"?

STFU and move on HATER!

What I find hilarious is that atheists concern themselves so much with a being that they believe is imaginary. So why is something you deem non-existent, dominating your thoughts? Why even call yourselves atheists? Why even waste one second of your only existence for eternity on the subject if you're sure there s no God?....Underneath all your layers of doubt lye your true answer.

I think there are two kinds of atheists - the ones who really don't believe and are comfortable with that and the ones who really do believe and are angry at, or hate, God. The latter group aren't properly atheists, but that's often what they call themselves.

Then there are agnostics who aren't really sure what they believe, but they don't believe it's been proven either whether there is or isn't a God (or gods).

You just said it yourself, atheism is not so much about belief system, more so a reaction against institutional systems that believe in a God figure, while the pro's and con's of that are probably evenly placed somewhere in science and romaticism, it's a rock and a hard place idea.

I dont concern myself with any God.

There is also a misconception I have been seeing with other posters. Agnosticism is not in the middle of theism and atheism.

I think most atheists are agnostic atheists. We dont believe but we dont claim to know.

Can atheists believe? yes. There are spiritual atheists.

Any atheist can believe if they were presented with enough evidence of something. I don't believe in trickle-down economics but if I saw it actually have a positive impact, I just may reconsider.

You're doing it right now! If its not something you believe in, move along to something you do. Why even concern yourself? Can you not see the irony in that??

An Atheist is merely someone who doesn't believe in a single-supreme deity - or for that matter any dieties that control and direct 'fate' for us lower beings. i.e. God works in mysterious ways.

I have hope for humanity because i see things in the world that give me hope. I try to understand the world and how it works because i want to know as many true things and avoid as many false things as possible. I'm sure if i put some thought into it i could tell you something i believe that i do not have proof for but i would immediatly try to understand why i believed it.

What i can say is that there is no good reason to believe in god/s.

I wish that there was a god but the world we live in would be far more scary for me if i accepted that this is the way that an all powerful god wanted it to be like.

Because the world is run by a majority of people who do believe in god/s, and can't prove it, which leads to people making up the wants and needs of the god. People all over the world will tell you what their god wants and they are all different because there is no proof that it exists so how would they know what it wants?

So you would throw out the main Faiths and be comfortable allowing cults like Scientology or Mormonism to continue.
And because you have no beliefs you'd like to shop on a Sunday hmmm

No doubt.

I think there is plenty of proof of the non existence of god between our two points.
