Just being in better shape and "the man at work yo" doesn't make you "better". Better than what? What if we compare you to Steven Hawkins who is physically disabled but has contributed an enormous amount of knowledge to the world? You are automatically better than he is because you are in management and you think everyone that has ever met you considers you a man of exceptional character?

You are looking at it completely objectively which makes it sound reasonable but are forgetting that we are actual human beings and each life has certain circumstances that are pretty important to the overall picture. Sure some people abuse social welfare systems but not everyone, and the ones that do actually need it should be taking advantage of available programs. Just cutting out food stamps and other programs wouldn't actually save the government nearly as much money as could be saved in other ways less damaging to society. Unless you plan on killing and burning all of the people that will at "best" die in an alley not affecting anyone others will cause much more damage that you are trying to avoid. You would see a lot of starving and dying and desperate children and teenagers and adults and seniors all wanting what "you" have.

If I get the opportunity to upload my consciousness to a network, I will do it. It would be a completely different type of existence. Immortal, the ability to change your body at will, and many other aspects. Though, computer viruses would worry me.

But sterilization? How else would you do deal with a exponentially growing world population?

I think a singularity of sorts is comming in the form of expanded human intelligence.

I think people will learn to manipilate the energy that drives machines and the life force which moves the rest of the world. We will gain the ability to create/shape our personal reality as well as co create massive places likened to cities.

It will be a good thing, not saying bad wont come with it, but our ability to do more will always be on the increase.

I think an important part he missed a bit on was the brain machine interface and nanotechnology, meaning we may be able to make digital copies/avatars of ourselves infinatly.

Eventually we may be able to have an infinate amount of physical representations of ourselves at some point in the future. Becoming a universe of life we may indeed become godlike.

We will never see sterilization in a free society I don't think. Like what was also brought up, who decides who does and doesn't get to procreate? Already we can be certain it wouldn't start in western countries, it will be the less industrious and wealthy places to a degree. China, India, Africa, South America, etc.

The wealthy people in those countries will bribe their way through that system resulting in the propagation of only the oligarchs and wealthy elite. That is a very scary path to take. Not to even mention fighting the different religions on it.

You came up with a near-perfect replication of Nazi philosophy.
Only the select should breed.
The best and brightest get all the resources, screw the rest.
Been down that road before chief.

All this new biotechnology will do is enable those with that philosophy to actualize it.
The poor will be poorer since robotics will eliminate most manual labor so they'll have to go (useless eaters)
The rich will get to have every cancer cured, regrow limbs, double their lifespans while everyone else gets their halved.

Because traditional religion is going extinct science is replacing it as the new faith of man.
All science will do is to work to further the goals of the elites.

1 child policy, especially in western industrialised nations, where one born here will use way more resources than a third world. Increase education of sexual contraception especially in countries, where the Catholic Church has had its influence over not using contraception, like the philippines. South and Central America and other poverty stricken areas of the third world with high child births. Western industrialised nations used to have big families before we got educated on contraception and birth control, slowly the population will go down around the world especially when poorer countries become more self sufficient. Eventually Mother Nature will find a way to help the homeostasis of the planet, if left alone. I tend not to worry about the future, I have no kids and don't intend having any. I'm sure things will work out one way or another, probably with intelligent robots taking over or some other science fiction plot. Sterilisation just relies on who makes the decisions.

I don't think sterilization is necessary. Humans seem content to reproduce at below the replacement rate in developed nations where relative comfort is assured. The best way to deal with an exponentially growing world population is to take more countries out of third world status. With success comes less desire to procreate on a mass scale. Where someone would at one point have 5 children, they'll instead have 1 or 2.

The body is hardware. The brain is software. Either can be modified or replaced. Eventually, the notions of gender, race or even species will blur entirely as various offshoots of humanity reengineer their bodies for zero-G, and other extreme environments. At that point, all bets are off. A body in such a world is just a suit you put on for a specific purpose. Some will be mechanical, artificial, synthetic. Others will be lab grown and built from the ground up genetically. Human beings will spread out and live everywhere. Some will wear designer bodies shaped like jellyfish or whales and swim in the corona of our star, soaking up radiation like food and doing science at the source. Others will refine their existing bodies until they are functionally immortal, and possessed of a flesh suit engineered to improve on nature in a million different ways. Most will change bodies several times over the course of their lives, and feel no more connected to our notion of humanity than we feel. connected to our phones.

Scary? Hell yeah, but it's coming soon. Though much of what I imagine probably won't be realized for decades or even centuries. Eventually, our fears of this new world will be a relic of the distant, superstitious past.
