When the quake does occur, its severe effects and the impacts of the following tsunami (“It will look like the whole ocean, elevated, overtaking land”) will be felt all the way from Canada to Sacramento, in densely populated cities like Seattle and Portland.

Everyone has been prophesying this for a while! But now Fox News, The New Yorker, The Weather Channel, and more have just reported that it is coming! What? Also, in 2010, Oregon State University geologist Chris Goldfinger told the Associated Press, “There is an 80 percent chance the southern end of the fault off southern Oregon and Northern California could break in the next 50 years and produce a Megaquake.”

Trying to predict earthquakes and the movements of the earth is pretty much guess work at best.

No one knows when that fault will snap, no one knows how it will go or the kind of devastation that will come of it. All one can do is simply prepare for the worse and live like nothing is going to happen at all. People for years, they get a bit of knowledge and it is this is going to go or that is going to go, and instead of something major it is usually minor.

Here are the facts:

The fault that they are looking at is the Cascadia subduction fault. It has in the past caused large earthquakes. Like any and all earthquakes near a large body of water or in said body of water, will cause a Tsunami. No one really knows when it will go, as it could go today, tomorrow, next week, next moth, next year, next 10 years, next 50 and so forth. What will be the size, any where between a 2.0 on up to a 9.0 on the scale that they have. How many will feel it, a lot of people. What can people do about it? Nothing, Simply put it is a hazard of living in the area, and the best a person can do, is simply take the necessary precautions to avoid the dangers and pit falls of such. That way they can survive and live to see another day. That means making sure the structure is sound and designed to withstand a major earthquake, that the stuff on the walls is away from where people would sit or sleep. That they have a plan of action, including how to get out of the area in the event that they have to evacuate. Stuff like that.

The damage could be bad, or it could be a shutter and it turns out to be nothing at all. We just do not know what all it is going to do or affect.

Even if this is correct, there is a 85% chance of it NOT occurring within the next 50 years.

I won't move anytime soon.

However, being prudent, I am prepared to bug-out quickly.
