These are the reasons I posted the South Park clip earlier

Seneca Police Chief John Covington confirmed that the shots were fired into the side of the vehicle.

... In its “Shots Fired” investigative report earlier this year, The Post and Courier found that one in four police shootings in South Carolina involve cops firing at or into vehicles. Officers typically justified their actions by saying the vehicles were heading toward them, causing them to fear for their lives and pull their guns. But the newspaper found that in case after case officers fired into the sides of vehicles as they were speeding away.

From linked source in the OP

Exactly, they keep shooting people for fleeing, because they are too lazy to do real police work, and chase them down, or the smart thing and track them down at home or work.

That is why folks keep knee jerk reacting, we have seen it so many times that we just expect this to be the case, because it usually is.

Sounds like a great plan... Its like they dont even think before shooting because they know there will be no consequences.

Just a little bit of accountability would go a long way.

Show me the physics that this is even possible to begin with and I may agree with you.

The physics of what? There isn't an evidence yet. All we have is words. There is a video.
I am NOT saying the cop is innocent. All I am saying is WAIT for the facts BEFORE you grab the pitchforks.

My God, is that not acceptable in today's society?

I don't understand why you and scientific have such faith in such a banana republic like system.

The dirty cops will cover this up, and the other dirty cops in IA will do an internal investigation where they will find no fault, the murder will get a paid vacation, and kill again.

Maybe next time it will be your kid being dumb and buy the weed that gets them shot, or mine, or my neighbors.

The police should not be able to investigate themselves, it should be 100 percent outside 3rd party.

At least then, the dirty cops couldn't cover for the other dirty cops.

Please don't talk sense like that, it only leads to confusion, especially when there is a call to STFU.

Anyway, I digress for those others that didn't read the link, the video is ambiguous, that's what we are told, and I presume the paper has got that bit right at least. As for the car involved, a Honda Civic, we can speculate somewhat. It is FWD and has an especially poor turning circle..a common complaint in fact.
The other thing in the paper link, is that this 'about to get run over' business is something of an MO amongst police, and that they have been catched on numerous occasions, I don't know about that so much, but I will look it up.

I think so as well, too bad it will never happen.

The police unions will see to that.

Imagine a car is coming for you.

Now step to the right.

Now put your finger gun out and point at the now-passing driver's side window.

Boy, that was easy.

Stepping to the right would mean you are out of harms way.

Not to mention the "now passing" car part.

THAT was even easier............

When will enough be enough?

When you Americans give up this childish fascination with guns, disarm the police and make gun ownership illegal.

Bleat on about your rights all you want. We have this situation in the UK and it seems to work just fine.

Take a sit down and think about it before you knee-jerk a reaction.

So....who is going to enforce this taking away of guns?

Who enforces gun control in the Uk?

Armed policemen?

Yeah....that'll solve this problem all right.

In the UK if someone shows up with a gun an armed response unit is called to the scene. But so few people own guns that anyone who has one is up to no good. There is simply NO REASON for a citizen to own a gun.

Have a look at this:

You know something? If the police unions support this stuff, that is akin to encouragement. I just looked at two fatal police shooting video's with multiple shots fired and I am close to tears man, First one, a person with a disability and a broom handle, and believe it or not, no charges against police because the video didn't show enough, feck them bastards big time.

This one a body cam, again someone with a disability I have no words for, other the officers words, which beggar belief, "he came at us with a screwdriver and WE had to shoot", (it's tiny) no matter, the poor guy didn't get more than a step. The during and the after talk is pathetic.

Both of these events were cries for help to police from their mothers, I feel so sorry for those mothers. I have grown up children for want of a better word, like those guys, the police in the videos knew that about those guys already, they were told, but it made no difference. Sorry about the rant.

What I'm trying to say is having armed police taking people's guns away and having armed police isn't going to solve the problem of armed police shooting people for little to no reason.

I'm saying that it's too late here to even consider that option.

Its already enough. People are afraid, but it only takes a spark to lose that.

Learn to live without the betrayers. Defund them and pull the pensions for victims compensation funds

Yes take away pensions and dentals completely. Defund them. Leave bad cops and their families without a pot to ____ in!

That's a good start. I have been pondering on ways to stop some of this thin blue line crap, lying to cover each other, and even IA covering up to avoid bad press for the departments. Police officers have a very generous pension system. Regardless what a LEO does, they still have that to fall back on.

Say for instance, an LEO commits an offense grievous enough to be placed on administrative leave, or be suspended, if the police union feels so strongly he should be paid during this time, let them pay him. Or better yet, he can apply for benefits paid from his pension. If approved, the money is taken from his/her personal account.

Even better, if a civil suit is brought against an officer, and the city/county/state settles the suit or loses in court, we the citizens are made to pay through our tax dollars. Change that. If a settlement or loss in court incurs any monetary damages, this time we go to the pension fund and pay the money from everyone's accounts. Everybody loses a little bit this way.

You want to see a thin blue line disappear real quick like? No more covering for the bad guys. No more lying in court. No more good ol' boy investigations. Add a private or citizen review of all incidents, and we solve this ongoing attitude that LEO's are above the citizen's, and can do what they want without any accountability.

When someone messes with the money of all members of a department, things will change overnight.

Yes, I know that 2015 figure, and to be fair, it's an active undertaking by the Washington Post, and credit to them, otherwise people nationally might not be fully aware of these events.

Let me give you and your countrymen a suggestion.

Disarm your police but have specialist armed response units available.

Have a gun amnesty where all citizens can hand in their guns and get a payment for each one.

After the amnesty period anyone spotted with a gun is "dealt with" by the armed response units.

You are probably thinking this is pie in the sky thinking... but this actually happened in the UK after Dunblane.

We can make it work, why can't you?

I agree, they mess up, and get nothing but a paid vacation.

The tax payers pay, not them.

They get rewarded.

Extra vacation time...... WTF kind of punishment it that?

That is the craziest part.
