Incarcerating juvenile offenders bad and now not incarcerating them is bad.

I was on Juvenile probabtion at one time. Guidelines are not hard to follow. UA's do NOT actually requiring being sober so...

That being said i have never been given JUST warning. I have been cuffed and charges Placed for the tiniest of things. I did not know a warning from police even existed.

Strike that. I once got a warning from a cop for curfew. However he searched me first and forced me into the back of his car with cuffs and no charges so he could drive me to my moms house for the warning. I suppose technically there is a couple violations there on the cops part.

Don't cry at me mate, i'm talking about how you can't tell anyone wrong but you can let kids go!

It's definitely really smart to lock a kid into a cage for prolonged periods of time before he becomes an adult and is released back into society.

The juveniles first arrest was probably handled with a class, some community service, and a fine.

His second arrest he was put on probation.

He then violated the terms of his probation which resulted in a third arrest for a technical violation.

At what point should this juvenile take responsibility for his actions? It sure seems like the judicial system gave him plenty of chances.

After being arrested two times and violating probation (which remeber is a third arrest) what do you think should be done?

I mean it is clear that the juvenile was not learning his lesson.

So what eventually these kids become adults and exposing them to the prison system isn't helping. Youth authority is even more dangerous than prison for adults and more violent.

You gotta keep in mind these people get out of jail the more barbaric we treat them the more likely they are to get crazy once they are released again.

I think it's about time we figured something out besides prison for people, clearly isn't working. Once you go to prison your no longer afraid of it. It's actually easier than regular life and when you get out you can't get a job for more than 10$ an hour anyway.

How do you address a juvenile that is committing multiple crimes and then violating the terms of their punishment?
