I do not believe this is a chemical effect, in the sense that this cloud does not appear to show signs of an unusual level of impurity when compared to other clouds. It looks to me that the shot was taken when the sun was low in the sky, and shining probably out of the left of the shot. The colours you are seeing are pretty common in clouds, when shone on from that angle.
It is, however, bloody gorgeous.

Yeah. They spray the sky to give you pretty colors. That's it.
We get the same cloud formation everyday, same shape, color, size, and at the same time of day. Never moves with the winds, just hovers off to the distance for hours. We never see it when it arrives or when it leaves. My husband even noticed and is convinced we are being assimilated.
