How many times have the words proof made me click on a topic and when I open it it doesn't have proof at all? just about every single thread.
Proof is not some guy on you tube that is an opinion not proof.
So please ask yourself before declaring that proof is inside your thread would your proof stand up in court? If not don't claim whatever you have is proof it may be evidence but people are using the word much to willy nilly at the mo.
Anyhow mini rant over carry on.

Lol I just was on that thread and I feel you man. It's beyond annoying. What's even funnier is how when I click on new posts this shows up right after that thread for extra hilarity.

You cannot claim proof without ACTUAL DAMNING DOUBTLESS PROOF.

That's exactly how I ended up in this topic...

Agree on the point, though. It seems to happen in cycles and, usually, it happens more to the highly dubious claims... as if placing that in a title will magically make more people believe Alex Jones' conclusions or be more open to suggestion that the moon landing happened in a studio built at Area 51.

And on a similar topic, nobody should claim that something is "official" unless they can quote an official person who has said so.

I could not agree more with your position.

The habit of some to suggest that they have proof, when they barely have anything more than conjecture, became tiresome years ago. Perhaps there is an English comprehension issue behind all this? Perhaps people do not understand the concept and meaning of the word "proof"?

When I see the word "proof" in a thread title,I anticipate seeing none at all.

Then I grab my Dumbrella.

Haha! I thought exactly the same when I read that thread

There's a guy I know in 'real' life who sucks up youtubes and see's them as proof for allsorts.
He'll present a 1 hour film or whatever and when I ask him to condense it into something like key points with names etc so I can look it up myself it's always a 'No, watch the film' but I'll be #ed if I'm wasting hours of my life watching rubbish which I can see easily has been debunked on ATS.

The world seems to be dumbing down with the preferred medium of information being movies with crap graphics, dramatic background music, and lots of rambling which could be condensed into a couple of short paragraphs in a thread.
Places like ATS are the last bastions of mature, reasoned discussion, long may it continue, and a curse on all those who put 'proof' in their titles when all they have is a #ty boring unreferenced youtube film.

If you want to get technical...

Your title contradicts your rant.

You have the word "proof" in your title yet your op contains no tangible proof.

Hmm, I'm not so sure.
"Proof in a topic title." in itself could be read as a statement that the word "Proof" is in the topic title, and in this case it is. The proof of the word being in the title is the title itself as we see it.

While I understand your rant, there's some on these boards for whom there is no proof, even if it bit them on the bum!

What is proof?
Is it a picture? Nope that dont work anymore.
Is it the number of witnesses? Well, that WILL work in a court of law, but it WONT work on ats.

Your idea of proof might not be the same as mine, so really whats the point of ranting, just click the back button.

It's an automatic thread bypass for me when I see it in the title

So the courts are never wrong? Proof of anything is subjective and always refutable.

Oh and while I'm at it. Truth is another word thrown around willy nilly on ATS.
NO it is your opinion not truth.

Agreed, here in the UK a criminal court judgement is just based on reasonable doubt or not, while our civil courts are on balance of probabilities. A verdict either way does not always mean it is the correct one.

I have personally had both guilty and not guilty verdicts in court which were legally correct based on the evidence presented in the cases, but did not reflect the reality of the situation.

On-topic, I've never seen a thread on ATS with "proof" in the title which was actually any proof at all...unless some lame youtube is regarded as proof these days.
