Sometimes the politics of our elected officials is to good to be true. Ted Cruz in his run for POTUS has opened a funny can of worms. Is it really any surprise that our Republican Senate is full of liars?

Captain Cruz criticizes McConnell as a liar then all Republican leaders of being liars. "We keep winning elections, and then we keep getting leaders who don't do anything they promised," - Cruz

Well Mr. Cruz, I agree with you completely.

I think all Republican leaders are dirty liars that do nothing they say, and cannot keep their word.

Listen Teddy, you probably aren't going to be president, and calling out your whole party to take McConnell's position after you lose probably isn't a winning formula. Unless you like embarrassing your whole party, I for one enjoyed it immensely.

news.yahoo.com...

I have no specific political view and find similar inconsistencies with both parties; however, Republican leaders flat out consistently lie, as is pointed out by the junior congress member in the video below.

Thoughts?

Yep, politicians should totally just shut up and stop saying things unless their party says they can say it.

How dare anyone speak an independent thought of any kind ...

That is really easy for Cruz to say...he was elected to do exactly nothing....well except to obstruct.

Oh, well I guess he did run on the platform of repealing Obamacare...looks like Cruz is also a liar.

Every election, I don't vote for McConnell. Every election, I keep holding out hope that Kentucky will remove him. So far, I've been left with disappointment. So if Cruz can somehow convince Ky to not vote for him, I'll take it.

paraphrasing....it's better that people think you are stupid, then to open your mouth and prove it.

Oh, how does that explain Debbie Wasserman-Schultz then? or Sheila Jackson Lee? or the guy who thought Guam was going to tip over?

I like how the thread is specifically about Republicans but you felt the need to only list Democrats.

For anyone that hasn't been following along; Ted Cruz believes Mitch McConnell said there would be no vote on the export-import bank, while McConnell has been saying that there would be a vote.

What's your point?

The problem for GOP is they are a party divided. You have tradition Reagan style Republican who have been declared RINOs and you have the right Tea Party that most of American can not stand. So they spend their fighting each other. It is impossible to come to a compromise with the DNC on anything (compromise being the way Congress has worked since its inception) when your own party can not agree on anything.

Just look at these poll numbers GOP favorabiliry ratings

52% say the GOP is more extreme, compared with 35% who say this better describes the Democratic Party.

By 53% to 31%, the Democratic Party is viewed as “more concerned with the needs of people like me.”

And the Democrats hold a 16-point lead on governing in an honest and ethical way (45% to 29%).

If your the GOP these numbers are scary. Not only are you out of touch on most issues with the American public but, you are also quickly losing support in your own party. The time is coming for the GOP to retake control of its party of fade away.

The thing is, through history we become more and more "liberal". We as a society are more liberal than we were 100 years ago, 50 years ago and even 10 years ago.

I'd give America another 50-100 years and we will look like how Europe is right now.

In response to this trend (its just the natural course of an ever changing and developing society) the GOP are going the other direction. Conservatives are adverse to change, and we're making a lot of changes! In their minds, going extreme right is a way to slow the pace of change.

It's only hurting them though, as most people are a mixture of conservative and liberal ideals.

Sometimes the right answer is not always the popular answer. I agree with his comments on our leaders lying in order to win elections only to go back on the promise once elected.

It is the natural progression towards a more socialist state.

I shouldn't say that. Since we have experienced the downfalls of both communism and capitalism, we are swinging back towards the middle ground in which both socialism/communism and capitalism can co-exist and our societies goals will change in the process.

We will find something bigger than ourselves as a goal to work towards, such as exploring space, and the profit/greed aspect will diminish.

It is the extreme right that is pushing against that. The left is not really helping much, but it is the right that cannot follow the flow.
