MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police say they are treating these reports regarding a possible lion in Milwaukee as “credible.”

Video surfaced Tuesday showing what appears to be a big cat sauntering through a neighborhood. The woman who shot the video planned to grill out on Tuesday evening — but with a baseball bat nearby — just in case.

Really cool story if true. This is a large city with plenty of wooded areas to hide. In the video it clearly shows a large cat possibly a Lion or Cougar. Milwaukee is a large urban city with a population of around a million including the suburbs.

Funny video.......The more I watch the video the more I am inclined to think it is a mountain lion. This is not a rural area it is a very urban area that this was spotted in.

I love stories like this.....Years ago just north of Milwaukee hunters had a deer on the back tailgate and a creature that had a dogs head and walked on two legs came up and grabbed the dead deer and ran off. Beast of Bray road I believe or something like that.......Holy hill area.

I agree , It does indeed present it's self as a lioness though.

It's always fascinating to see wildlife come into a populated area. However, this also means we have encroached on their territory. This does look like a cougar to me as well.

Ya this is one of the better videos of a possible big cat.....They are hunting it as we discuss this tonight. I wonder how many missing pet reports this can account for........My dog was out in the back yard and just went missing into thin air....My cat never came home after being let out.

Actually Mountain lions or Lions have not lived in this area for a long......long time. This is rare beyond belief and it is also a very urban area with many suburbs. I live 30 minutes west in a very urban area also. Milwaukee does have parks and wooded areas to hide. It is possible this big cat is hunting deer.....They are very common around here.

There are big cats on the Texas gulf coast.
I've never had a dog go missing.
Cats, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys...they've all gone missing.
I have found some impressive paw prints.

Up north we do have confirmed mountain lion sightings.....Milwaukee metro is very densely populated. It is amazing wild life finds a way........Just amazing in my eyes. Racoons are another species that really does well in urban areas. They knock my garbage cans over every night looking for goodies. My neighbors had a family of them living in a hole they dug out of the roof.

And thank you for the story about Mountain lions.....

There is a possibility that it is someone's exotic 'pet' that escaped.

There's a documentary called Elephant in the Room on Netflix. It's about the people who own wild animals as pets in their homes. These animals range from deadly snakes to big cats in inadequate conditions. The documentary is very sad.

The documentary featured a lot of people in the Midwest. They also mentioned the Midwest no longer has any native big cats. The wild cats now prefer to stay in the mountains.

According to stories from around the state the DNR has been purposely releasing cougars in Wisconsin the last few years but not admitting it. I've seen some pics of one that was killed by hunters and some videos of live ones from further up north. I would bet it's a cougar.
