Just now. I am through with it. Going to try just cold turkey. I am tired of the money spent more than anything. Guess it is going to be a long, tough week or more.

Edit to add: I've been smoking near 6 years now. Sometimes two packs a day, sometimes a pack, depending on life. I had a warehouse job where I'd really only get a break if it was to smoke. That must be the dumbest reason anyone ever started smoking, but they were 10-16 hour days at times. I needed those breaks.

I'm most recently about a pack and a half of cigarettes a day. Doing the math that is almost $2200 a year. Good Lord.

Good luck.
It's hard as hell. Just focus on nasty death thoughts, cancer and chemo vomiting.

Take the money you save and save it for something you've always always wanted.

And again good luck!

I want an early 90's Jeep Wrangler. That's my happy thought.

Best of luck to you. I just said a prayer for you.

Chemo vomiting - yecch! Yeah, I agree, thinking about that just may keep you from lighting up.

Hugs

One thing that's really helped me (I'm in the process of quitting), was the doc told me to just keep saying to yourself, "I'm a non-smoker". Even if you fall back and have one cig just say I'm a non-smoker having one cig. Give it a shot!!

You'll probably have to quit coffee and beer, too.
Nothing strikes up the craving for a tobacco stick like morning java or afternoon beer.

Quit quitting.
That can actually make it easier to quit.
Smoke if you want to. If you don't, then just don't.

Alright. I am going to place a bet of '1 laugh' that this guy will smoke his next cigarette within the first 27 days.

"Vaping"

I have 133 days without a cigarette.

But I vape now. I don't care what anybody says, vaping is like breathing a cool morning mist as compared to smoking all the chemicals in a cigarette.

I have already noticed a HUGE difference in my stamina and I don't get the morning cough fest resulting in a chunk of lung that sinks to the bottom of the toilet.

It will be one of the best things you have ever done.
I also will say a prayer and wish you success.

Quitting cold turkey is a great way to go. You realize the benefits soonest. Smoking is crazy expensive too.

Actually you don't have to quit those

I quit smoking just 4 months ago after 18 years and I was concerned I have to quit beer and coffee too, but it is ok to my amazement.

First three days are the hardest. Trust me I know. I am on year 3 of being smoke free. One of the best decisions of my life. I still crave a cig every now and again though.

Stay strong man. If you can go three days you can go three years.

vaping is a very good and safe alternative as long as you know where your e-juice is made. Within a week from smoking to vaping you will see a world of difference, even if you vape heavy.

Don't be afraid to at least give it a shot, and good luck to you!

Non-smoker for almost 2 years

Good luck to ya. I'm on my 5th week now without a smoke. No patches or e-ciggies for me, cold turkey too.

Thanks for everyone's encouragement. I took two puffs this morning in the truck on the way to work before I woke up enough to throw that thing out of the window. Luckily, I knew I'd slip
