Until someone can prove one or another for themself then all fields are open for skeptical thought.

NASA has been proven to lie numerous of times.

Examples please. Repeating it over and over again doesn't make it true.

Can you really proce that the ISS photo wasn't part of the composite image? And if it was, that it came from the ISS? That the image from the ISS wasn't just doppler radar of weather over a percieved world?

Can't you tell from looking at the original photo that it was taken from the Cupola module on the ISS? Weather satellites give a top-down view, but this is an oblique view. The photo is from a series of photos where you can even see the photographer's legs! eol.jsc.nasa.gov...

It's just funny that your only sources are NASA, that is like my only source being any one MSM source and it leads only back to them. I could post countless photos and videos from many sources but I won't proving NASA lies becasue it would only take up pages upon pages. I can tell you for certain, that Apollo photos on the moon landing were faked, I can tell you that photos from the Appollo 11 mission of Earth were faked, that is a truth and there is evidence on this site to back it up.

So, after seeing such fakes, just like MSM and history wants you to believe one thing why is it wrong to question the status quo? Because it is what you want to believe and that is why you defend it? Or do you have solid evidence outside of governent space programs to know for yourself. That is how a true skeptic would see it, yet skeptic's can't prove it themself. I'm playing the Devi;'s advocate now, if you can't tell.

I see footage of UFO's and such and 1 out of 10 I say that it is real yet there is always someone saying prove it is real, so that is what I am asking you; prove what you believe and see is real through science and math since that is what is accepted now. Yet science is proven wrong every day, studies are proven false, theories are disproven. It is ongoing studies with billions behind it that get the truth behind it in order to gain an advantage. Why woud NASA's funds be cut and basically their entire structure be demolished? the job has already been done and accoplished. That is why the Pluto mission wasn't NASA that is why the Mars rover isn't technically NASA. The idea has already been implanted, its all control of the populace. You really think that TPTB want you to know what is going on? It's all about comfort for you and us. Oh ya, and control.

Ok, I'll leave you to your beliefs, and I don't want to see my thread go off the track. But regarding the photo, why is it that a space agency cannot launch a spacecraft to the L1 point and take that image... or are you implying that it's not what the Earth looks like, and they had to doctor the image?

It's easy to throw sweeping generalisations and stereotyping around, but I'd like to see more objectivity and some point in your reaction to this image. The clouds have been shown to match (and there are non-NASA weather satellites that can confirm that), the spacecraft itself is operated by NOAA, and is up there to do honest work for the betterment of our lives. Your posts make you sound like a stubborn kid that won't budge no matter what.

"Science is proven wrong every day" - makes no literal sense.

"Studies are proven false" - Give me a study as an example.

"Theories are disproven" - How can you dis-prove a theory? A theory is a theory.

I really don't want to turn this into an Apollo thread but I can state with just as much certainty as you, that the photos of Earth are genuine and can be backed up by satellite evidence. You're wrong, see the link in my sig.

What I will challenge is the implication that the only images out there of Earth are from NASA. There are Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Soviet ones too.

By all means challenge the status quo. Just don't assume that your challenge autonatically invalidates it, because it doesn't.

Should be kept for posterity, to show the future kids what Earth looked like while we still had a chance to stop polluting it to decimation.

You'd be lucky if you could tell the time, if you think the Apollo pictures are fake start a thread with PROOF and not just YOUR opinion

Guys, look at the middle of the planet. There you have the lights like the ones we've seen on Ceres. If we can localize where and what it is than we might have a similar explanation to what we can see on Ceres. Just a thought, but I think it's close. What you guys think? Thx!

It's where all the stitched images join up.

Actually it's not.

I'm not sure....it's concentrated on Antarctica in a circle, when you zoom in on it it looks like a shield.....if you zoom in beyond the surface it takes on the shape of a concave lens....I'm really not sure what it is....have a look yourself, it seems odd.

I have had a look, and I know it's there as a result of the way images are joined together to make the sphere.

Just like this:

Long story story short - everything that comes from the establishment is a lie and conspiracy, and unless you spend countless hours watching all these Youtube videos and reading through crank sites and manage to disprove every crazy claim presented in them, my beliefs will hold true. And even if you manage to debunk them all, I'll label you a government shill and disregard all your work in debunking it.

NASA launched a new website Monday so the world can see the EPIC images of the full, sunlit side of the Earth every day: epic.gsfc.nasa.gov...

More information at www.nasa.gov...

The images are taken by a NASA camera one million miles away on the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR), a partnership between NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Air Force.

Once a day NASA will post at least a dozen new color images of Earth acquired from 12 to 36 hours earlier by NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC). Each daily sequence of images will show the Earth as it rotates, thus revealing the whole globe over the course of a day. The new website also features an archive of EPIC images searchable by date and continent.

The primary objective of NOAA’s DSCOVR mission is to maintain the nation’s real-time solar wind monitoring capabilities, which are critical to the accuracy and lead time of space weather alerts and forecasts from NOAA. NASA has two Earth-observing instruments on the spacecraft. EPIC's images of Earth allow scientists to study daily variations over the entire globe in such features as vegetation, ozone, aerosols, and cloud height and reflectivity.

EPIC is a four megapixel CCD camera and telescope. The color Earth images are created by combining three separate single-color images to create a photographic-quality image equivalent to a 12-megapixel camera. The camera takes a series of 10 images using different narrowband filters -- from ultraviolet to near infrared -- to produce a variety of science products. The red, green and blue channel images are used to create the color images.

You can access individual full-size images, and that's great, but I can't help but notice that they are quite grainy, probably due to compression. It would be nice to be able to see the original-quality images.

I was looking at the cameras filter info at epic.gsfc.nasa.gov... and was wondering what our eyes would see if our vision was limited to the very narrow spectra that the filters have. A bayer filter passes many wavelengths in each of the colour bands, but the EPIC filters only allow a very narrow band to pass through to the detector as they are looking for very specific spectral lines. I wish they would send a regular, bayer filtered camera out there one day so we could know what our eyes would see, without any 'doctoring'.

Good question, I gave you a star for that. Honestly, I don't know. But I think that the vast majority of what we see on Earth and in its atmosphere emmits light in broad swathes of spectrum, and thus would still excite photocells in your eyes. Only the narrowband emissions, such as from ionised gasses, would be subject to such narrow capability.

What a joke for people to eat up whatever NASA labels as truth, and if you say i'm the one who's deluded, you just haven't looked hard enough or are too conformed to your force fed beliefs since birth to wonder why people think it's all a load of crap.
