Hi there, ATS! I'm a long-time lurker, but I only today decided to make an account. I wasn't exactly sure where to post this topic, but General Conspiracies seemed appropriate, so forgive me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, the Seiichi Kawamura murder case is one of the strangest I've ever heard. Kawamura was a 35-year-old engineer who lived near Inokashira Park in Tokyo. On the night of April 21st, he failed to return home after going out with a former colleague. His family reported to the authorities that he was missing, but nobody in the area reported seeing him after 11 PM.

The next day, on the 23rd, the cleaning staff in Inokashira Park found a bag of human remains in the trash can. The remains consisted of 24 miscellaneous pieces, each cut to the exact size of 20 centimeters. A third of the body, including the head and genitals, were never found. The autopsy discovered that whoever dismembered the body also entirely drained it of its blood. It's possible the victim might have been alive during the dismemberment, but the medical examiners weren't certain.

So three days later, from a DNA test, the police identify the parts as belonging to Kawamura. Witnesses reported seeing two men carrying a bag to Inokashira Park the night Kawamura went missing, but the two men weren't ever identified. There's a rumor that Kawamura was the member of a crazy religious cult, possibly the infamous Aum Shinrikyo, and that they killed him after he wanted to leave. Others suggest he was hit by a car, then dismembered and hidden to dispose of the evidence.

The case seems obscure, and I can't find much more about it. I had first heard about it on Reddit, where somebody posted the Wikipedia article:

en.wikipedia.org...

I also found a blog article today that goes into more details and lists Japanese-languages sources:

*snip*

If anybody has ever heard of this before, do you know anything more? I also remember somebody on Reddit saying there's a video of the bag floating around somewhere in the darker depths of the internet (not that I want to see that though).

Well the murder is free now I guess so if you did it you're safe :-)
I guess the only possible hope is someone will confess before they die and give the Family closure.

Prior to 2010, Japan had a statue of limitations on murder for fifteen years. Unfortunately, the case missed the country’s abolition of the limitation by only a year.

I wouldn't think anyone hitting him with a car would carefully cut precise sized pieces. Also it takes a lot of work and time. So the size and this fact makes it cult like and yet if the bags had not been seen and dumped with the garbage would he have ever been found.

The parts had been completely drained of blood (but they suggest the parts were washed in order not to leave clues)

Again cult like.

body that has been divided into pieces, all 27 are also aligned thickness as well as length,
Thicker portion of the meat was uniformly adjusted by, for example, dampen the muscles.(trenslated)

I can't imagine how they could find so many to question.

Despite police questioning some 37,000 people, the case has never been solved.

They suggest organized crime, so being an architect did he and anyone else involved with a secret project die.

The two men, makes little sense to me, if they beat someone it would be a long while in some private place with water to cut him up so why return him to that park.

● on the 22nd 0:00 too much immediately after broke up with an acquaintance, a similar men near the crime scene in Kawamura's in "JR Kichijoji Station department store side",
He had been beaten in two of the young man.

● Around 4:00 Kawamura's the day of the 23rd that body has been the discovery of suspicious duo of man walking in the park with a plastic bag has been witnessed.
Two sets of man are both 30 Daitomi.

I really hope he wasn't alive when he was being cut like the article mentioned might be possible.

That's some Saw stuff.

Well I bet he was so that shows also some anger I would think, revenge kind of thing, or again ceremonial. it would be very hard having no answer to your missing loved one, his wife was pregnant.

Really interesting story - thanks!

What I also find curious is that you were able to post this story with only 6 posts under your belt. I thought ATS required 20 posts before you could start a new thread other than in the New Member Intro area?

Has that policy changed? Mods? Anyone, anyone...Buehler?

Shock is God's way of mitigating that.
