I do agree that SOC guys are about the last people a dissident would have to worry about. I disagree that SOC guys are the "most lethal guys on the planet". The SOC guys I've met are in good shape and are experts in certain weapons and tactics. In the right circumstances, they're unusually lethal. Put them in a street fight with an accomplished martial artist or boxer, they'd likely lose. But that's the way it should be - focus on the training that pays the most dividends.

Toughness is a hard thing to gauge. I'd reckon most SOC guys would struggle to keep up with a Mexican roofer in the Arizona Summer. Those are some tough hombres. Built to work in the harshest of conditions.

I have heard people for 20 years saying that any day now, tomorrow, next week, the f'ing fourth of July, that we are going to be rounded up and subjected to detention camps. It is nothing more than American guilt for what we have done throughout our 20th century history, a paranoia based on our own, and our ancestors actions.

We have already been rounded up. Cable tv did that a long time ago.

Before 9/11 JSOC was poorly funded in their eyes. When they were handed a long list of insurgents to go after it was like handing a 5 year old a bucket of candy. They are Americas highly trained killers BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WE NEED THEM FOR.

They are still patriotic Americans just like you and me. They just follow orders and do not ask many questions. Now if someone started ordering them to take everyday Americans off the streets in even one group or two they would quickly wise up and say hell no.

They all are still brainwashed into thinking 9/11 was 100 percent an AQ attack and they will kill or capture any Arab who they think had a hand in it or is planning another attack, until they are given orders to stand down.

The high ups may be crooked but the average operator just takes orders.

People are capable of anything - if your commanding officer says you and your family have the option to be behind the trigger or in front of it - there will be enough go votes to do serious things.

I don't think people have been pacified enough for full scale martial law to occur.
